Awhile back I started chickentrain\'s Motorcycle Thread. That went over great. (Not really. ;))

This thread is about flying. I\'ve had a serious interest in flying for the past half a year or so, and I was recently able to pilot a plane at my local airport.

I paid $55 to fly for about 20-25 minutes. Of course, having never flown a plane before, I went with an instructor, and he did all of the required pedal controls while I just steered with the yoke (joystick for those unfamiliar). The instructor did the landing, but I got to do all of the other steering including the takeoff. It was very cool!

I flew a 2-seat Cessna 152. We started off cruising at about 900 feet, moved up to 1500 feet, and then got as high as 2500 feet for awhile. I\'ll admit -- I was SCARED. It was both very fun and very frightening. We had some turbulence on the descent that was somewhat freaky to me, but the instructor promised it was nothing to worry about. (He even said it was very little turbulence compared to what he\'s had before.)

Anyone else have an interesting flight story or a general interest in flying?
