I am very sad too. Keep getting a vision of him in that movie he did many years ago...think it was called "Somewhere in time" . That last scene always sticks in my mind & even more so now.

They say it happens in terms of 3. Janet, Rodney and now Chris Reeve.

Goddess Rest the soul to peace and lend her comfort unto family, friends and the many fans around the world .

Amazing! I remember the first Superman series at a time when black and white TV was such a wonder, after so many years of "watching" radio. And contrary to the spirit of reality, we never seemed to recollect that a man in a suit can not really fly.

Dear Christopher, you were our living color hero in theaters around the world. You were the icon posing as a defender of rights, the protector of all that we,as Americans, knew justice to be;representative of freedom and power over evil.

What a tragedy that we read this news today. Yet what a life you lived, and a message shared. You were so much to so many, especially after your tragic fall.
You transformed from the famed "Man of Steel" , into the figure of hope, for all that suffer spinal cord injuries. You became a hero of a different kind. And now we know you are also mortal. That you suffered and finally died. I never thought to read this news. I always thought I\'d read that you had accomplished your goal of walking again.

 I weep this morning because I remember your superman. I weep because you died without ever again feeling the tickle of grass beneath bare feet. I weep because your gone.

And you shall be missed.

It is truely sad and unbelieveable that he is gone. I have to look at all that he accomplished while he was here. Superman was not only a character for him, he lived that role after his accident. He did so much for all of us, not only for continued research but even just in remnding all of us to set goals and continue to strive to reach them. We might not reach that end goal we set, but think of how many things we can do along the way that matter just as much. Christopher might not have walked again but his continued support and speaking out for more advances in research will continue to echo in our minds for a long time to come. He has made a difference in this world.
I read his book a number of years ago and I still remember how his strong spirit came through even in times of despair. Every now and then something he wrote will come back to me and remind me to keep striving and reaching for that little bit extra. He has motiviated and encouraged many with his life and the energy he put into it.
He truely was a Superman!

He will never really be gone as long as we keep him in our hearts.

Christopher Reeve has left a legacy in medical research that will not soon fade, he has left a mark on the earth in every way and his hand touched parts of our medical lives we may not even learn about for decades...

long may he watch over us in amusement from the skies, no longer on wires.

I listened in saddness late last night as the first reports came in. I stopped and said a prayer for his safe journey home. I thanked him for giving of himself to us as he did and for providing a beautiful example of how life is supposed to be lived. I imagine he is now at peace and from a distance is comforting his family as he rides off on his horse.  Ride on Mr. Reeves, forever you will remain our hero.

Logged on late today & have just seen this. I can\'t really add to the above except to say I admired his work both before & after the accident, and his courage is an example to anyone who faces physical challenge. He\'ll be missed indeed.

  yeah words of warning just to let the folks out there in internet land that some of the major news casting websites have very scary upclose pictures of Christopher Reeve, that is not the way we should remember him, some of them look almost skullike drained of color and the lack of hair , eyebrows and lashes.  As perviosly posted He was my Hero when I had ear surgery when I was a kid I went to the hospitle as Superman but the last time I wore that PJ suite was when I had Chicken Pox also for unnumbered and uncountable time during and after Halloween did I go as Superman, one year I went as a very baggy Clark Kent with the superman suit Underneath I still have Pitcures of Me with the Cape dangleing out.

I shared more then I should have here Much MUCH more.

thanks for shareing. It is a real compliment to admit that you were really into superman in such a way and I am sure Mr Reeve was flattered by so many little boys and young men who wanted to be his portrayal of such a hero.

Max\' dad was a devout watcher of Wonder Woman.  he watched it "for the plot" he told us... right... sure... uh-huh...

my best costume was as a Debbie Harry Vampire - fooled several good friends at a party in NYC - and we\'re talking all with makeup and a bleach job.  oh, and a dress, of course.  october in NYC was too cold for otherwise.

many of my heros are gone; i try to keep my eyes open for new ones, and retain the memory and honor of the old ones.  especially my dad.

Chris - (gkg QUOTE  - retain the memory and honor of the old ones) -- that is how we continue our growth by remembering what insired us and expand upon that. So don\'t be discouraged that they are gone or leaving us be inspried that they passed by.
