After listening to the 42nd album of buckethead I own(The Elephant Man\'s Alarm Clock) I am still wondering how he gets his guitar to perform the high pitched screams that just make your hair stand on end.  I would give a example except I don\'t have access to any of it right now cause I\'m not home.  But it is used excessively on this album. Anyways I was wondering if anyone knew if it is a effect or whatnot that gives the guitar that high scream.  If no one answers I\'ll give an example when I get one of the cds.

I don\'t know yet cause I haven\'t received the record yet (it shouldn\'t take long) but what you describe may sound like a whammy pedal to me. I\'ll try to figure it out as soon as I\'ve got the CD. Give us an precise example anyway, it always helps.

Bucketbot1031

I have a fulltone whammy pedal and I\'ve experimented with the tone setting and I still can\'t find that sound.  A couple examples are in "Bird With A Hole In The Stomach" right at 2:39.  Also in "Baseball Furies" when he builds up at about 1:13.  Hopefully this helps, but thanks anyway.

its a pinch harmonic i would say... didn t listen to it but this should be it...

Mr_B

I believe bucket uses a whammy from digitech.
Might be some difference between the brands?

Bucketbot1031

Thanks pinch I\'ll look into trying to actually do a pinch harmonic, and that would make sense on how the sound is so high.  And Mr-B that is the whammy he uses but its not really a whammy sound.

Senzabot

It\'s a pitch shifter surely?

And Bucketbot1031 is he not just bending the strings at those points? They\'re not particularly high pitched.

Yo Bucketbot1031, at around 2:39 in "Bird with a Hole", he does one of those bends where ya bend ultra high, so it goes past your standard step...I think...and in Baseball Furies, at about 1:13, he\'s got the Envelope Filter in full effect...I think...rock on. ;D

Aquabot

I\'ve just received my copy, so now I can try to find what it is.

In Bird, it\'s just a bend as Cheapsk8 said.

In Baseball, it\'s a kind of bend called unison bend where you strike two notes simultaneously and bend the lower note to the pitch of the higher.

e--------12---------
b--------15---------

In the case above, you bend the note at the 15th fret while holding the note at the 12th fret. Maybe add just a bit of wah (but it\'s not necesaary) and you should nail that sound.

Thanks guys, i\'ll try it out and let you know
