hey old folkie

did you try out the Cds..? I"ve never heard the breathing one, only the Vocal Workout Cds which are good.  I\'d like to hear if you found them helpful or not.

sngwthme -  I have a couple other tunes up here - www.download.com/strawberryvale if you are interested in checking them out.   I\'m glad you liked the first one!! :)

take care all,

I\'ve only started working with the breathing and warmup CDs. Had some other things get in the way, you know how it goes. And these are first impressions, I need to practise a lot more before I can really judge.

What I\'ve been able to get from this so far is promising. They start out on the right track, with posture and body awareness, and I found the explanations of the breathing quite reasonable. They give you some physical exercises as well as vocal ones, to loosen up the breathing mechanism! Once I got to the vocal exercises I found that they use more "h" than I\'m used to, but for breath control a consonant that I tend to puff on is probably a good thing. I\'m more accustomed to the "mee may mah moh moo" routine for warming up, and they use that too on the breathing CD, also some others on the warmup CD.

I think these are a useful aid if you\'re working with a coach, and they\'d also be good if you don\'t read music and want access to vocalises. Or if you already know what you\'re doing & want a straight practice CD. But I think I benefit more from working with a coach, just like for a sport, where they know what to look for and can physically correct your mistakes.

These are going to be handy for warming up, though, and for using in the car on the way to a sing.

svale, I like your other 2 tracks, too, but the first one is my favourite!
