As some of you may know, I recently joined the forums. This thread is simple. It\'s about my favorite hobby: motorcycling. Does anyone else take part in this sport?

I guess I should give you my background. I\'ve been riding for 4 seasons now, and I\'ve done over 20,000 miles. I\'ve ridden about 10,000 miles on Harley-Davidson motorcycles, another 10,000 miles on dual purpose bikes, and the rest on Buells.

I did 10,000 miles in my first riding season, and it\'s drastically dropped off to about 3,000-5,000 miles per season since then.

It\'s my favorite thing to do when the weather\'s nice. My indoor hobbies include listening to and buying music (CDs not mp3s), surfing the web, and working on motorcycles with my dad.

COOL Welcome to the forum Chickentrain, no I don\'t ride motorcycles here but COOL anyway.

I found a *stripped* motercycle when I was a litl Kid, cryed when Mom called Police to come and have it taken away.

*meaning stolen and desmantled and left for scrap, SO Sad.

We have 2 motorcycles.  I don\'t know much about all the mechanics of them, but my husband is into engines so he tinkers with them.  We have Triumphs...  a \'74 Trident and a \'69 Trophy.

We usually try to go for at least one ride during the season, but he likes them because they get good mileage.  I just ride on the back.  Maybe someday I\'ll get my class M.

Chris, my grandpa\'s car was stolen and stripped years ago. Like you said, it is a very sad situation. It\'s too bad your mom took the bike away from you. :)

ella, I like Triumph\'s motorcycles. I\'ve always liked their classic look. Even the modern Triumphs still have a classic look to them. I fancy the Bonneville and Thruxton models in their current lineup.

That would be cool if you\'d get your endorsement someday. I found the local rider\'s training course to be very useful when I started. Depending on where you live, it can be relatively cheap.

Chickentrain, I was only like 9 or 10, so it would have sat there to collect rust and spiders for 6 or 5 years.

Good point. :) I\'ve had a spider drop down from the mirror when I was riding before. It was somewhat distracting. :o

I\'m listening to EMAC, and Gigan came on while looking at the following picture:

How awesome is that?

EDIT: The picture seems to be invisible now. I\'m confused.

EDIT 2: For those wondering, it was a picture of two military dudes jumping a motorcycle with a sidecar. The sidecar rider was in control of a mounted machine gun.

Danny Chandler tribute article:

EDIT: Notice him riding with a broken handlebar about midway down the page. What a cool dude.

Also, Andrew McFarlane died early this month from head trauma. This was going to be his last riding season.
