The Day of the Robot : What makes it exceptionnal is not only the drum & bass thing, but –to me– Buckethead playing crazy piano solos on several tracks.
This is rare enough to make this album more than just "interesting".

The best part about foums is when someone asks a question about a Buckethead album for instance, they get many diffrent points of view to paint the big picture. And with a catalog as big as Bucket\'s, it\'s impossible for everyone to like the same album.
Some days, it's a good day to die. And some days, it's a good day to have breakfast.

Quoteimo they\'re all amazing albums, thats just me though, especially for follies and needle, thats definitely just me  ;D

No, me too - i think NIASS is among his best.

Day of the Robot is awesome. Great compositions, very well produced. Must have, but hard to find and expensive when you do. Heavy, and techno beats.

Follies and Slunkstack... meh... you\'re likely to be dissapointed. Cutups, remixes, re-edits, recontextualization of previous broken shards and wedges.

Funnel Weaver is weird...and under listened to by myself personally. I need to go back and remind myself of its uniqueness before further review.

All the DCK stuff is like a dark dreary ambient score to the movie of your nightmares.

Shin Terai is drum and bass dubby type stuff. Great music, but buckethead is just one of many players in this group and takes more of a supporting role. Still plays awesome though.

Praxis\' stuff tends to sound different from album to album. Its more of a jam band, very heavy, ranging many genres, mostly instrumental except for Profanation. Any buckethand fan should own every Praxis album except for 1984 and Mold. Some of the boy\'s best work.

Speaking of Profanation, for those in the US that never picked up a copy I should have some news to post on that front relatively soon.

I\'d qualify that last remark...1984 and Mold have nothing to do with Buckethead. FWIW, I don\'t think Mold is that bad. 1984 was an ep from...1984. Essentially just Laswell with turntables, tapes, DMX and various other toys. Experimental and far removed from Praxis in sound and time. Mold was a reworking of that EP by Andy Haas, Peter Weatherbee and one other guy (Pat Thrall maybe?). I would at lease argue that Mold should have been release under a different name, or made clear that it wasn\'t \'Praxis\' per se. Praxis according to Bill is really not Praxis unless Buckethead is involved in some way. Much like Arcana was Tony Williams. No matter what sound or direction that\'s the intent. I\'m sure a lot of you know (and some frustrated by) Bill\'s use of \'band\' names. He goes by feel, concept or overall intent of a project when naming things and not by sound. He\'s VERY deep into language and how it\'s used, to the point of blessing a remix project sitting out there that Muslimgauze did, but not allowing it\'s release because of a dispute over titles.

QuoteSorry, to me your post came off as "don\'t get it it\'s bad".

As I said previously, don\'t step on my toes because of your problems interpreting my post.

Buckethead isn\'t the one credited with keyboards on album, but when it\'s an acoustic piano, it might be him.
