Quoteas someone who actually still goes to music stores...

i love buying somthin  i know nothing about... taking a chance.

in fact  thats how i got my first  bucket  cd  colma!   thought it looked  cool  had  no  idea  what it  sounded  like   and  the  next  week  i  went  back  and  bought bucketheadland  1  and  monsters and robots....          8)

Especially when it is Buckethead.  I buy everything he puts out.  If there is something I end up not liking a whole lot (the Guns n Roses and Science Faxtion cds, for instance), then I just look at it like a contribution.

QuoteAs someone I know says, things are too easy now, everyone wants everything right now. Didn\'t looking at your presents under the tree for several days before Christmas prolong the whole experience? Isn\'t it fun to speculate wildly and completely off base and have a few people make stuff up from whole cloth only to be made to look ridiculous when the real thing arrives?

Travis, you could easily do this by announcing the albums a few weeks before the release date.

Living in the UK I can sometimes wait up to 2 weeks for the new releases. Hearing all the US guys talk about the new cd a couple days after it comes out sucks!

How about updating the downloads store as soon as the CD is out, and then offering the mp3 half price to those who ordered the CD?

I\'m sure others wouldn\'t mind paying that little bit extra for the mp3\'s.

I don\'t like the waiting, but I kind of do like it.  I don\'t have the willpower to not download the mp3s immediately if they came with the cd purchase.

yep thats how I found Buckethead too, I took a chance.
and:
Primus
Butthole Surfers
Neurosis
Dub Trio
Thought Industry
Kyuss
and many more

But I have been burned too many times too.

Personally I now download almost everything before I buy it.  I just dont have the money to take a chance.  There are certain artists where I dont because it will be part of my collection, but if its a band I havent heard yet I download it first.  Then Ill dole out the cash for it if I dont delete it right away.

I do agree with Travis because the wait for this new Buckethead recording has me giddy with anticipation. I have a good feeling it will be at home once I get off work.

Most albums I can listen to some tracks on amazon before I buy.  With Buckethead I wouldn\'t bother even if it were an option as I know I will want it regardless.

I have had a Bandcamp set up for a while, I think this is what That 1 Guy is using too. I had been toying with the idea of adding Flac and Hi Rez versions to the download store. There are upsides to using it and some downsides. I may add some of my CD\'s to it and offer those as a trial, Iconography, Thanatopsis, Dragons and so on. If it works out I can see if Bucketheadland is interested.
I may start with downloads only, then combine CD and downloads if there is any demand. One draw back is it\'s not integrated with our shopping software so combining items in a shopping cart wouldn\'t work. And a few other problems but since there seems to be some interest so I\'m considering a trial run. I\'ll keep you posted.

Proving once again that Travis is the MAN! Open to new ideas etc. So excellent. "We\'re not worthy!" LOL!

Personally I like the feel of a CD in my hands and wouldn\'t download anything at all if i had the money.
