I\'ve caught the Buckethead flu, and hopefully there\'s no cure. I\'m here to ask you guys about any album recommendations from Buckethead. I was thinking about getting Monolith, In Search of The and Buckethead Land Blueprints.

Hey man! Welcome to the wonderful world of Buckethead! Prepare to become amazed on a regular basis, as well as loose a lot of money from trying to amass all his recorded work. It\'s one heck of a ride!  8)

Anyway, I don\'t know how much of his albums you\'ve got, but I would definitely try to get his solo work first before getting into the "side projects" like Thanatopsis and Praxis.

I\'d suggest you get the following (in no particular order) off the very site you\'re on (tdrsmusic.com, that is):

* Decoding the Tomb of Bansheebot
* Crime Slunk Scene
* Pepper\'s Ghost
* Inbred Mountain
* Bucketheadland 2
* Elephant Man\'s Alarm Clock
* Electric Tears
* Population Override
* Cobra Strike 13th Scroll
* Cobra Strike II

I know it seems like a lot, and you may not afford it all in one go, but those are the essentials that you can grab right here on the site.

Then, I\'d go for some of these elsewhere (if you don\'t already have any of them, that is):

* Bucketheadland
* Giant Robot
* Colma
* Monsters and Robots
* Bermuda Triangle
* The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell
* Kaleidoscalp

Then, I\'d go for either "In Search of the", stuff like Acoustic Shards, Bucketheadland Blueprints or some of his Death Cube K works. And maybe even some Chicken Noodles to round things off.

Then you\'re ready to branch off and get some Thanatopsis, Praxis, Deli Creeps and stuff like that.

In other words, you need to get EVERYTHING! But I\'d try and go in the order I suggested, if you want to that is.  ;D

He has such a wide variety of music that it is hard to know what to recommend without knowing anyhting about your own musical tastes.  You need to let us know what you like that you have heard and what type of music you like in general.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys. I have Colma, and Enter the Chicken already, and I\'ve got to say I\'m really impressed.

oh, don\'t worry. There is no known cure. Good luck escaping Bucketheadland. Few do, but they are never missed
 ;)

on the note of Monolith ---> Get it

same for ISOT.

Blueprints is a must. Back to the origins!

"Bucketheadland is the worlds premiere abusement park, where all of your dreams and nightmares can come true"

Anyways, you should also pick up electric tears, especially if you like stuff like colma.

-Be careful with the bucketheadland blueprints, giant robot,  and bucketheadland 2 albums, theyre heavy on voices/samples, and that can aggravate some who are looking solely for music.

-Death Cube K is a wildcard for everyone, you either love it or wish you never bought it. Dreamatorium is quite beautiful though, and even if you dont like the idea of ambience, you should look into it.

-if you end up liking population override, you should check out all of the other bucket/travis albums: Thanatopsis self titled, Axiology and Anatomize, Chicken Noodles 1 and 2, and maybe gorgone.

-If you like seriously whack music, kaleidoscalp and island of lost minds are great for that.

-hold out on the box sets until you really, really, need to hear them

thats just side info, you should definitely stick to Slunkers suggestions, its the way to go!

"Have fun, be safe, disinfect wounds"

Oh, by the way, you should sign up on buckethead.tk. its a great forum with great people, tabs, and album reviews, and its all about the bucket ;D

I\'m already ahead of you Wires and Clips, I\'ve been a member since last october.  ;D

My first album was Monsters and Robots, I thought it was a pretty good introduction to Buckethead, though its not my all time fave. The dvd Secret Recipe is really good too, there\'s so much on there to binge on, its crazy. I\'ve had that for 2 years and I still find new things every once in awhile. You definitely get your money\'s worth.

Ahh, if only I had 185 bucks to blow on those, I would do it in a heart beat. I\'m close though, school doesn\'t pay much however.

If I were you, I wouldn\'t start off with those albums.  You might want to get something a little more refined.  Not that theres anything wrong with ISOT, DCK, or BHLBP, its just that it might be harder for a new fan to be able to take in those albums.

I recommend:

*Inbred Mountain
*The Elephantman\'s Alarm Clock
*Crime Scene Slunk
*Decoding the Tombs of Bansheebot
*Peppers Ghost
*Electric Tears
*Population Override
*Either Chicken Noodles

You cant go wrong with any of those albums.
