Randy Gilpin?

can someone tell me why i woke up with the name Randy Gilpin in my head?  Max looked up the name and found someone who directs a high school band - but i don\'t know the man or anyone who attends his school...  did someone mention him somewhere??  this is the only music forum i go on, so i don\'t know who else to ask.

Randy Gilpin taught high school band at Canyon High School in Canyon Country, CA, a suburb just north of Los Angeles, close to Six Flags Magic Mountain.  His bands were noteworthy for their musicality.  He began at Canyon in 1979 and left a few years ago to downsize to the Junior High level, where he remains today.  Randy played trumpet in the marching and concert bands at UCLA in the early 70\'s.  He grew up in the Pico Rivera area of Los Angeles county.

so he DOES exist?!  i did not grow up in California at all, and i live in Northern Cal, not Southern... wow - i wonder why i woke up thinking of the guy\'s name.  i trust he\'s alive and well then, since you say he\'s still teaching at that Junior High.  interesting as hell.
