QuoteWhat do people here think of Chomsky?  Has anyone read "Hegemony or Survival"?  Personally, I think Chomsky is awe-inspiring and the state of the world is not looking good...

He\'s totally brilliant. He was up in Vancouver about a month ago to attend a peace march, and was treated like an icon. Everyone went nuts when he stepped up to the podium, and then went completely silent to hear him speak.
I think he\'s one of the most important activists America has right now. I hope more people listen to him and take heed. I bought Hegemony or Survival, but haven\'t delved into it yet.
bhead51 - have you checked out percevalpress.com - recommended reading section? Lots o good books there on the state of the crazy world today. The Al Franken book is a pretty funny look at American politics - if you need a break from the heavy stuff   :)

Interesting comment, me_again.  Sadly, when I read Chomsky I find myself nodding off. Good stuff, but very heavy. Need a caffeine patch handy the next time, I guess.

He is a great purveyor of ideas. Well worth the thinking required to plough through his material. Even if you end up disagreeing, he makes you think to get there!

I heard him speak some years ago, and thought he could use some work with a speaking coach to get his message across better. Does he still have that kind of choppy delivery? From the tiny clip on PFA it sounded like it.

I loved that maniacal laugh of Chomsky on that track!  hee haw hee haw- it added such an absurdist edge to the words- you go Viggo and Travis-

ps I took the liberty of starting a new thread on Chomsky only
