Hey Chris!

I can\'t speak for Travis on what Viggo may (or may not) be up to musically, but I do know he\'s been awfully busy filming movies lately.
As you said in your post, he recently finished "A History of Violence", which will be out in September...he\'s also finishing up a movie in Spain called "Captain Alatriste" AND, rumour has it, he may be starring in a movie with Diane Lane called "Killshot"!

I\'ve also heard/read he\'s starting another book of poetry...WHEW!  Talk about your work-a-holic!!  :o
Maybe...somehow, in between all of that AND being the father of a teenager, he\'ll squeeze in some studio time!!!  (One can only hope!)  ;D

Looks like he has a new cd with Buckethead coming out in the winter.  Travis, will you have this available at your webstore?

From Perceval Press website.

QuoteINTELLIGENCE FAILURE
Buckethead and Viggo Mortensen
"You talk of nationality, language, religion. I shall try to fly by those nets."
-James Joyce

This seventh full-length musical collaboration between Buckethead and Viggo Mortensen also includes contributions from Travis Dickerson, Henry Mortensen, Walter Mortensen, and Brigit.
INTELLIGENCE FAILURE is a musical ode to the dream of preserving loving, civilized society in trying, often cruel times. Rising above the deceit and greed that have plagued and eventually conquered all the world\'s empires, there have always been brave individuals and isolated groups that have stubbornly refused to surrender their belief in humanity. This collection is dedicated to them. Combining variations on traditional melodies with original compositions and improvisation, as on previous Buckethead/Viggo recordings, this C.D. also draws from freely available statements by public figures to tell a part of the story of our time. Sometimes humorous, sometimes heartbreaking, INTELLIGENCE FAILURE is never anything less than fully-committed to an honest examination of where we are, and to expressing hope for where we might go.

Yes, It will be available here.

Right on! Intelligence Failure sounds like a winner winner chicken dinner! ;D I\'m particularly pleased to read that the album will express the reality and darkness of our country\'s current \'leadership\'.  People of conscience cannot sit idly by, and watch Bush and his ilk drag our country and its neighbors into the mud any further than they already have.  I salute Viggo, Buckethead, Travis, Henry, and Walter Mortensen (and Brigit), for their courage and artistic integrity.

WILL VIGGO RAP OR OVER\'MPOSE WORDS ON THE MUSIC, ABOUT THE STATE OF CURRENT AFFAIRS?!?!?!?

hmmm why did I capitalize everthing?

I made it down to the Toronto International Film Festival last week with a friend, and we saw the gala North American premiere of VM\'s new movie A  History of Violence (a David Cronenberg film). Director & main cast including Viggo were there although I was a bit disappointed that Cronenberg wasn\'t available to take questions after. TIFF is a festival where that is the norm, but I guess not for the big galas. Anyway, it\'s a great film, many layers, very Cronenberg if you know his work. We were there 4 days & saw quite a few other good films too, including Everything is Illuminated (Elijah Wood\'s latest, directed by Liev Schreiber).

gkg, sorry, didn\'t make it to the gallery you recommended, but I do get to T.O. occasionally so maybe another time!

It\'ll be there - she\'s had the place for quite a while and it\'s going strong.

but...   what about the movie?!  I\'ve heard really good things about "A History of Violence" and I love Cronenberg\'s work - I\'m surprised he wasn\'t available for questions.
Peace.

The movie is AMAZING! It\'s getting rave reviews all over the place but I recommend you stay away from reviews (why do most reviewers just tell you the whole story?) and let the movie carry you away. I also recommend at least 2 viewings because there are just too many layers to assimilate in a single sitting. Everyone in it is terrific, but Viggo out-shines them all. He is one talented man. And David Cronenberg has the craftsmanship to make use of those talents. 5 stars!!!!!

Oh, and I\'m sure it was scheduling issues that prevented Cronenberg from doing a Q&A. There wasn\'t much time between galas (this one at 6:30 and another at 9:30, in a hall that\'s hard to fill & empty), plus an afterparty that I\'m sure went on until the small hours, not good conditions for Q&A at a 9:00 showing the following morning! Benefit of the doubt on this one, they were really pressed for time.
