I think you missed the point of NIASS and Forensic Follies.

The intention was to use old material to make new songs...NONE of it was new material as far as I am aware.

Listen to it with that in mind and you may change your mind....you may not. Either way, now you know! :)

Well, it didn\'t say that on the album, that it was recycled material. Thing is, I\'m used to opening up a new buckethead cd and being blown away( I have 20 of them) and taken on a new adventure of his brilliant madness!! Niass did not have that effect. I should be receiving cucu clocks from hell today and I already previewed it on YouTube. It\'s badass, I\'m so stoked!!! I guess I\'ll avoid forensic follies.
Joe!!!! Could you fix me a ham and cheese sandwich?!!! Joe!!!! I want some butter for my chips!!!! Joe!!!!

Understood my bot....i encourage you to check the reviews at TK....you can usually get a good idea of what the albums are about there...and there is always a LOT of talk about the content of the music....so that might help ya pick the albums that you\'ll like.

I own over 80 Buckethead related albums and i certainly don\'t love them all. But man...who releases that many albums?

We\'re spoiled rotten!! We can choose which ones we like and avoid the ones we don\'t.

I would second this good bot\'s advice. Once NIASS came out the TK community knew instantly that it was like Forensic Follies in that it was a Mash-up record or Bucket\'s version of a re-mix album. There are even a few threads over there on both of those albums pointing out what songs were used in the creation of the new slabs.

QuoteYou don\'t need to like everything he\'s ever done to be a real fan. I think thats a real misconception with a lot of Buckethead fans. They feel they need to love and defend everything he\'s ever done.

I listen to what I enjoy and what I don\'t enjoy sits on the shelf...CONSTRUCTIVE feedback is what is important though. I\'m sure BH is happy to see people providing feedback (what artist isn\'t?) thats not just gushing admiration. I would imagine that gets old fast!

Anyway, I haven\'t been much of a fan of the last few he\'s released....and thats ok because a lot of other fans do love them.  (I think...hehe)

For me, you hit the nail on the head with the stuff I\'ve quoted here.

I feel the exact same way about liking some but not all of the albums. For instance, when I first heard some stuff off Inbred Mountain and Elephant Man\'s Alarm Clock, I thought it was too screechy and harsh for me to like. Now, I\'ve warmed up a little bit to these quirks of Buckethead\'s music, but I generally still don\'t like the really harsh stuff like Island of Lost Minds and so forth.

I also agree that constructive criticism makes sense since he is a current-day artist, and he may make some decisions based on what the fans say. Although, Buckethead does seem to like doing his own thing, so perhaps he\'ll just keep them in mind and keep doing whatever it is that he does in the studio. :)

I also haven\'t been much of a fan of the last few releases. I don\'t know specifically which you are referring to, but the most recent album I\'ve truly liked is Slaughterhouse on the Prairie, and the others are a tad too mellow for me.

Anyway, if you\'re reading this, Big B, I think it would be cool if you\'d return to the days of Pepper\'s Ghost and Decoding the Tomb of Bansheebot. If you don\'t, that\'s cool as well. I\'m sure you\'ve still got creative juices flowing in your body.

Who really cares if NIASS was "recycled" material? It\'s barely recognizable and used in a completely different way. A very interesting and innovative way, I dug it :)

I care that NIASS and FF is recycled materal... I cant listen to it because I know the original songs too well.  I drives me crazy because its all just cut up and orginized in a way that is disjointed.  It just makes me just want to listen to the original stuff more than anything.

I like the idea... only it didnt work out well for my ears.

I like the fact that Buckethead did, yet again, something different, so keep pushing those boundries Buckethead!
Support underground music!!!

In Search Of The

I don\'t mean to keep bringing it up, but to me, FF and NIASS were "games" - with each listen I could pick out what was used and from what song. By the time I picked up one note or strum, the entire song (or in some cases, album) changed. Some of them I couldn\'t even pin-point, and even now I listen trying to place which part was used where and from what song. It\'s more fun than it sounds, and you don\'t really overlook the skill. It takes more talent than you realise to create a new song out of existing material.

I dug it too.
At first blush I thought it was "assembled" better than FF, but in the long run, I actually dig FF more than NIASS

In actuallity, it wasn\'t all that different as Zappa created a genre of music theory called Xenochrony.

But I will agree that Bucket did it his way.  8)
