I hadn\'t been into the store for a while, thinking there would be nothing I hadn\'t already seen. Big mistake!!  :o

There are 2 Tony Gilkyson CDs available, both Sparko and a new one, Goodbye Guitar. I already had Sparko, but immediately ordered Goodbye Guitar & am looking forward to it immensely!

If you don\'t have Sparko in your collection, I recommend it highly! Even more interesting if you\'re into his sister Eliza Gilkyson (who will be at the Ottawa Folk Festival again this year, YAY!), Exene Cervenka, or Viggo Mortensen. Why? Because 3 of his songs on it  were covered at one time or another by each of them. He\'ll Miss This Train by Eliza Gilkyson, He Wanted (as "She Wanted" & co-written) by Exene Cervenka and Home in Angelino by Viggo Mortensen. I find the different musical choices by each performer of the material fascinating.

Tony Gilkyson has a great way with words and tunes, and is a dang good guitar player to boot! Believe me, those aren\'t the only songs of note on the CD...but why not buy it & find out for yourself! Oh yes, and Travis produced it & plays keyboards on at least one cut  ;)

Thanks a bunch, Travis, for having more of his product in your store. As you can tell, I\'m really excited! ;D

Thanks Oldfolkie for bringing up this subject. I had the opportunity to work in studio with Tony last week and he hooked me up with CD\'s, ( yours is on the way).
I had a great time making Sparko with Tony and it\'s good to have in back available here.

Working with Tony last week? Something new in the pipe? I hope so!

My copy of "Goodbye Guitar" arrived today & has already had 2 plays. I like this one too, a lot! Can\'t say yet which song will end up being my favourite, but how can you not like a song called "Donut and a Dream"? LOL

Highly recommended, he\'s got the touch -- it must run in the family, right? Style is country-rock -- if you listen to X or their Knitters incarnation it\'s not that big a stretch. Punk has a ton of country influences, imo, which is one reason I wasn\'t all that surprised to find X walking that path as the Knitters.

Thanks for stocking them, Travis.  You\'ve made at least one of your members really happy! ;D   The rest of you -- try it!

Oh and speaking of Gilkysons, Eliza is playing the Ottawa Folk Festival again this year, and it\'s this weekend, so I\'m looking forward to seeing her again. They\'ve got a couple of other excellent USAmerican singers on the program -- Dar Williams & Iris Dement -- as well as loads of other talent from Canada & other countries. Should be a good weekend.

That\'s just wonderful, you are in for a treat! Eliza was at the Ottawa Folk Festival again this year, and she is scheduled back for a concert November 11th. I think she likes us  ;)  We certainly like her!  ;D

hmm...does Tony ever do solo shows?
