Dude, google it, i m sure there is a lot of info about how to write songs, here is a link i found: http://www.musicbizacademy.com/articles/songwritingtechniques.htm

Also listen to yur fav artists and disect the songs, should give you a clue how they do that.

Colma is the best choice if you want mellow, soothing.
One of my faves.

CCOH & EMAC are great too, but heavier work.
Inbred Mountain i don\'t have(yet).
