I think Buckethead could do some really interesting things utilizing current techniques in classical guitar instead of adding electronics. Here\'s something I ran across recently using pull-offs and harmonics at the same time.

Well, we all know Big D\'s Touch refers to Big Donna his girlfriend, not Mr. Diamond, unless Big B has a very "special" relationship with him.

This cd has been waking my wife and I up in the morning for about a year now. For the longest time I kept hearing bits that sounded new to me, and I\'d just stop in my tracks and listen with my jaw hanging open.

An often over-looked in discussion, but truly original and remarkable recording.

Most experiments that mix rock with orchestra sound like crap, IMO. The classical makes the rock sound pretentious and the rock makes the classical sound old and dated. BUT, I believe it CAN be done if it\'s treated as a new form of music, rather than Yngwie shredding over baroque strings. It needs to be more symbiotic and I think BH is perfect to do it because of his range of styles and sounds and because his ego won\'t get in the way. But it needs to be written by a VERY contemporary composer, like Danny Elfman or Peter Sculthorpe, that can mix both melodic and dissonant elements, and the guitar needs to blend much better with the orchestra than anything that has been done before so that it\'s not an vehicle for guitar solo, but a musical landscape requiring both parts.

I wish I could write music, because I can hear large portions of the suite in my head. It sounds like a merging of Mussorgsky\'s Night on Bare Mountain with Death Cube K, but about 100 times more intense.

You realize that\'s not an actual shirt, right? I just drew a t-shirt shape around the design to give an idea of what it\'d look like .... the image will be the standard size for shirts.

And if you\'d prefer a Buckethead designed shirt, I\'d just use a Sharpie or one of the acrylic paint pens or just acrylic paint with a brush and do one. BH\'s drawings/cd covers are all simple black and white sketches. If you don\'t freehand well, draw it in either white or black charcoal pencil first until you get it right then go over it with acrylic. Iron it in and the paint will stay, the charcoal washes out.

I wouldn\'t know how to go about getting a group together to email him... I was just thinking anyone who sees this thread and likes the design to send him a personal email saying, "Yeah, I\'d buy that." If there\'s enough of a response, maybe he\'ll act on it.

Trouble is, I saw the thread kind of late and there\'s already 300 views on it, so if those people don\'t check back, they won\'t know there\'s an alternative to the existing shirts.

Then, if you wouldn\'t mind, let Travis know. I\'m donating the art and film for free. All I want is a few shirts (XXL!) for me and my family (all Buckethead fans!).

I have a design I did ... It\'s actually completed and film is output - I\'m just looking for someone to print it. I asked Travis to ask the "powers that be" not long ago and look into it for me. I\'m still waiting.





Any opinions or comments? If we can generate enough positive response, this is the place and time to do it! I would also like to put in my vote for XXL sizes, too!

No, it\'s not for sale - it\'s a BOOTLEG! A LEGAL bootleg at that; Buckethead doesn\'t mind people taping his shows - I probably have over 20 of them. Where do you think Petesbloodyhand gets them from?

Go to thetradersden.org and join and do a search for Buckethead and start downloading. Or go to buckethead.tk and find the bootleg section and ask to get started in a sharing tree. Lots of friendly folks at both places that will get you started. If you\'re into "audio only" go to archive.org and download from there - many many shows to choose from - but seeing is much better IMO!

Just so you\'re all aware, there are programs that let you extract the audio only from your DVD bootlegs. I use MPEG Streamclip for Mac, but I\'m sure there are others. I made my own audio only copy of the Las Vegas show. I used MP3 Trimmer to make each track separate. So, if you have the DVD, I\'d say find a program and save some money and make your own cds.

I think we\'re all decided EMAC is a great first choice. I like Electric Tears better than Colma because the beats aren\'t so obvious and heavy. Plus I agree with a previous poster that Thanatopsis needs to be there. So mine would go:

That\'s good for now. Honestly, after that you need to start branching out and get some collaboration projects like Unison or Day of the Robot, or a Praxis. There\'s a thread at .TK about it. BH plays differently in different situations as they require. If you only get his solo stuff, you only hear one side of his musical personality, so to speak.

Yep! Pop Override is one my all-time favs, too. I love BH on his own, but when he works with others, his playing style changes so drastically, it\'s really remarkable! I love his sound and phrasing when he plays with Travis. I think Trav really brings out the best of BH - you can tell he\'s on his toes and thinking. For me, it can\'t happen often enough and I really wish they would brainstorm more together and find new directions.

You described BH\'s contribution as a more of a guest spot. Is he heard pretty much throughout the cd, or does he only stand out on a few tracks, and if so, how many?
