Just found out now about the sad news :\'( ....Thought I\'d extend the message across the board especially since his music was an influence on many great guitarists and musicians alike. May his soul rest in peace...

Gary\'s music was very touching to the soul and very heartfelt. He was an excellent blues guitarist and definitely among the top shredders. He is one of the few guitarists where you could really feel the emotion behind every note that was played....my opinion regarding one of the greatest guitar legends.

For those who are not so familiar with his music, please check out some of his work with Thin Lizzy (and Phil Lynott), as well as his solo stuff...truly amazing and brilliant.

^^^Lol, it didn\'t get there quite yet, nor was it intended to get there...

The aim of these previous posts (mine included) were to basically justify the reasons for why sharing/downloading music might be initially useful and beneficial to both the artist and the fan, and how that contributes to artist support in the long run. I only shared my experience as to how I came across Bucket, in order to justify my argument above.

If you ask me, I think it projects the right mentality and approach that is expected regarding the sharing of music when someone puts it out there (you initially try it out, and then support if you like....here\'s an analogy you might want to consider....if a friend asks you, and you lend him a CD, your aim/expectation would be for him to listen to it and then perhaps do the same as you did (by buying the CD if he likes it). However, you never know people\'s true intentions, probably not even that of your friend....same thing with online music sharing applies (whoever is posting the sharing link might be naive/blind to the consequences that could follow, and hence the abuse of the system).

The people who download and continue to download more further down the line, without appreciating the work of the artist are insensitive, and will probably have a hard time understanding the true value of things in life.

I agree with that. That\'s also the same mentality that brought me to support other artists as well, and by buying their music and not downloading.

Downloading/sharing whatever you want to call it, does have its goods and does have its bads like anything else (It probably weighs more on the bad aspect). However, like some people already mentioned, it does give the artist some attention in a largely populated mainstream music industry.

I\'m not going to lie...I came across Buckethead by accident while searching for instrumental guitar songs (I wasn\'t even a huge guitar fan back then). The first song I came across was \'Electric Tears\'. After listening to this song and a few others, I built up a lot of respect and admiration for the guy who was playing (like others, he even inspired me to take up my guitar again). After reading and looking Buckethead up to find how I can gain more access to his music (someone who has never heard of him before, let alone, barely anyone within a 100 km radius from my home knew who he was), I came across tdrsmusic. That\'s how I found out about him and now, he has earned someone who loves and supports his music. That also, taught me something else. My actions translated similarly to how I now perceive and support other artists. Thus, you can definitely say that sharing music definitely has a plus side to it (it introduced me to Bucket and taught me a life lesson about the true value of things), but like a lot of other things in this world, people sometimes tend to abuse the system.

To sum this all up, once you build that level of respect and admiration for someone it becomes almost impossible to commit a wrong act or take advantage. This does not just apply to musicians, but also to any person for whom it matters.

If you think about it, most eBay transactions are justifiable (unless someone is making unauthorized copies by burning the CD(s) and selling them as "original"). The person who is selling the item, like anyone else would, initially has to buy it from a seller or supplier. So the profit share goes to the artist as such...and the artist does not lose anything.

However, what some people try to do is to "re-sell" which is OK too. There is no harm done in that (they might have not liked the purchase, or they have a profit-making motive, etc etc). In that sense, the artist still does not get robbed of any profit.

If you think that its the over-priced sale price that is unfair... well, that is not a crime either. That person is probably just trying to profit (business-oriented mind) and like I said, the artist doesn\'t get robbed...its the buyer who might If they trust an original source they might find it cheaper and faster too....but different people have different reasons. Keep in mind that most of these eBay sellers are probably private sellers too, so they don\'t usually have bulk quantities and might not have the proper facility to package (S&H), and the price they\'re placing on that single item is, I\'d say almost equivalent, if not less than the profit that a bulk supplier/seller might get if they sold by piece.

Some buyers might also, not trust the idea of buying directly from an original source...they might think it will cost more, or for security reasons, you never know. I\'m not a business major or anything, but it does not need careful reasoning to know that markets can be a crazy place

Just to probably clarify that issue for you

"For mom" is a great song and is not very difficult to play either. It also would be very suitable for the event !

"Wondering" is also a great suggestion.

Also relevant, is the song \'I love my parents\' but you might argue that it is "sleepy/slightly sad sounding". However, I\'d argue that its one with immense emotion....that being said, not everyone might like it since it is one of his most mellow pieces and sort of lacks that uplifting spirit that everyone would enjoy at a party.

I also like "Shadows between the sky" but you might probably find that the fast paced classical-acoustic guitar solo a little difficult to master ....or you could mix a little bit of different songs together to make a nice arrangement. No matter of what you pick though, I\'m sure that your mom would be happy and proud

Also, I\'d agree with the comment made that his new yellow mask = He\'s expressing his "joy" for all the support and since recovery?
Or perhaps, as someone else mentioned, he\'s decided to dress up for the occasion. After all, the color does match his outfit.

On a similar note, I personally think that Buckethead is a really smart and extremely talented guy regardless of what everyone else might think. I think that his stage persona reflects on a number of influences and so does his music. Thats what brings about creativeness to a lot of artists out there, an influence(s). Music is a form of entertainment after all. Part of musical stage performance (besides the music) is visual/expressiveness art form to grasp and maintain audience attention. Unfortunately, I am yet to attend one of his performances, but I believe that Buckethead created this persona with his influences in mind, which he actually uses to his benefit and to supplement his performances. This is clear from what I\'ve observed in circulating videos (e.g. nunchucks, robot dance, etc) over the years. It creates for him the atmosphere he "needs" in order to perform, as well as keeps his audience happy/entertained.

By the way, I\'ve been a long time Buckethead fan and have been "guesting" on this forum for a long time. I finally decided to join in ongoing discussions, so this is my first post. Hello to everyone out there

This is a great album. However, i have to say that it was almost a sudden deviation  from his previous, more mellow releases throughout 2010. Still proves that the man under the bucket is very capable and prolific.

The range of effects and techniques used on this album makes it also worth that much more.
