Consistent is a word that springs to mind. Every track is different, but somehow the same. I couldn\'t tell when one tracked ended and another begun. Maybe this view will change in time. The album deff has its own sound.
Buckethead tends to have 4 types of album: \'Great\' \'Ok/Good\' \'Not My Thing\' \'Undecided\'
I prefer the guitar work over the bleeps n\'blobs.
Pepper\'s Ghost - \'Great\' - Grown to be one of my favourite BH albums.
Monsters and Robots\' - \'Great\' - Very Commercial. Very good.
Colma - \'Great\' - Slow. Hauntihng. A classic.
Bucketheadland - \'Great\' - ..for me, this is what Buckethead is all about.
Giant Robot - \'Great\' - ..for me, this is what Buckethead is all about.
Crime Slunk Scene - \'Great\' - The best of all the lesser albums (if that makes any sense)
Enter The Chicken - \'Ok/Good\' - A mixed bag. The good tracks are amazing
Bucketheadland 2 - \'Ok/Good\' - Too few good moments.
Bermuda Triangle - \'Ok/Good\' - The best of the bleep blob albums
Some Where Over the Slaughterhouse \'Ok/Good\' - Hardcore. Has its moments.
Kevins Noodle House - \'Not My Thing\'
Pieces - \'Not My Thing\'
The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell - \'Undecided\'
Electric Tears - \'Undecided\'
Population Overide - \'Undecided\'
Funnel Weaver - \'Undecided\'
Cyborg Slunks - \'Undecided\'
Elephant Man\'s Alarm Clock - \'Undecided\'

In Search Of - Hard to rate. Far too many tracks. An experiment. I\'ve only ever played if from start to finish once. I took all the tracks that stood out, and copied all of them to a single CD. There were about 10 tracks in all. If you do the math, that makes In Search Of pretty average. So yes, the good moments are worth owning, but sadly, there\'s far too many non tracks. Either way, I\'m happy to own it :)
I love The Dragons Of Eden and the other two new releases.
I tend to look at Buckethead music the same way I look at Zappa\'s music. It\'s all part of a larger project. The BIG NOTE.
I love all of it ( one way or another ).
I may be in the minority from things I\'ve read online, but I think ISOT is an EXCELLENT release from start to finish.

I hope you\'re not in the minority Zintar. ISOT is full of fun surprises. I would categorize all Bucket albums as Fun/Enjoyable/Hmm.../Awesome/Tasty. However, I do agree with enter the chicken; I\'m not a big fan of more than half that album (prob cause i\'m not much of a vocal guy, i relate better to sounds).

Wow, the undecided ones are incredible, IMO. I guess that is what makes opinions interesting. I should admit that like zintar I love all of it (or almost all. I can\'t say that I really love Enter the Chicken. Overall, I just didn\'t find it very interesting.). Anyway, DOE is really great, IMO. I think it is beautiful music.

Being a big fan of the Thanatopsis cds, PO, CN 1 & 2 - I can say I love the DOE, great cd! Then again I am a big fan of all BH music even the obscure side projects (Gigi, gold & wax is one of my favs). Your "great" choices are good (CSS is a masterpiece) but you need to add ET, EMAC, DTOB, PO & BT (imo).
As for ISOT, I just got my copy this week (thank you Double Man) and am amazed by it. I am going to use my surfing analogy again... when you paddle out there are good waves and bad waves, moments of shredding, cruising, bailing and wipe outs, some slow spots inbetween sets, perfect barrels and blown out mush. If you had to judge every different aspect as to whether the surfing was good or not, it would be hard to form an opinion. But when you look at the session overall as a complete work then it is awesome! The good outweighs the bad. This is how I feel about ISOT. You can pick it apart if you want but I\'d rather see it as a whole and also rate it awesome.

as far as everything else Buckethead related, is Inspiring to say the least but mostly i dig the experimental stuff more, cause that\'s were I come from.

I\'ve been so busy lately that I have not yet put my thoughts to pen (or electronic text) on this yet. I\'ll have to say Dragons Of Eden is my favorite Buckethead/Travis collaboration to date. There are some really well thought out passages here. These guys didn\'t just show up and hope for the best. It has a structured sound or format, which makes it very accessible. Buckethead also does an outstanding job on bass. Every time I see or hear him play it I want to put mine away! Anyway, here is my review:
Track one, The Cosmic Calendar sounds like Pink Floyd meets Kiss, Buckethead's crunchy guitar riff over the Wish You Were Here-era keyboard sounds from Travis are actually quite unique and entertaining. Nice to hear Travis stretching out here. The keys are layered with different voicings, and it all comes together nicely. Good solid opener.
Track two, the Brain And The Chariot, comes in with a funky guitar, keys, and piano blend over some tasty drumming by Brain. Nice interplay between Buckethead and Travis. Buckethead can get a killer vibrato sound out of his guitar even with no effects, which only compliment his overall sound. Some clean nimble digit playing by Travis as well. This song builds up to a nice crescendo. Excellent track.
Track three, The Abstractions Of Beasts, starts off kind of bluesy and mellow-it's great scenery music. Goes down easy, and sets your inner vibe to positive. I just feel good when I listen to this song. I would describe this song as nice ride in a convertible on a sunny day, because that's exactly what I do when I listen to it. Great song.
Track four is Tales Of Dim Eden. A nice blend with the addition of Cameron Stone on cello. Very well produced tune. The cello was not just stuck in there, it was tastefully inserted at key points that just enhance the song overall. This is a classy and elegant tune.
Track five, Lovers And Madmen, features some great drum and keyboard interplay. I would say the drums are the glue for this song. The keys and guitar are tied together by some very tasty drum licks. Some more killer tone from Buckethead. A solid track.
Track six is Future Evolution and starts right out in a cosmic mood. I love this track, it's my favorite on the whole album. The cello and keys work perfectly together. Buckethead inserts guitar fills in just the right spots. This song reminds me of the Beatles from '66-'67 studio era. I almost wish there were vocals on this one. Travis really outdid himself on this song. It is subdued yet powerful. I love the buildup to the ending, the cello parts would make George Martin proud. Outstanding song.
Track seven Draco, is a metallic riff with a hard edge that takes a path through a green field a few times. Buckethead throws in some very bluesy licks that almost sound like they were played on a Stratocaster. It just shows how much of his sound is skill-based versus studio or effects. It's apparent they had fun playing this song, and it comes out through the speakers. This song would sound awesome live. I'll say that Travis' keyboard sound sometimes sounds like Ray Manzarek and Rick Wright rolled into one. Another solid tune.
The eight and final track is Knowledge Is Destiny. Buckethead's fingerprints are all over this tune. Buckethead is kind of a conduit of past and present in his playing style. I'm getting the vibe that he really likes the classic music era of hard rock music, as there are elements in this song that are reminiscent of that era. It's like AC/DC meets Vanilla Fudge. Same with Travis. These guys can reach into themselves for what appeals to them personally, then turn it out for us to enjoy. I'm really glad for this. Younger listeners may not hear the roots in this music, but the clues are all over the place.
The Dragons Of Eden is a great album. I heartily recommend that you go online here at TDRS and buy it right now.
i was wondering if travis could confirm whether this cd or people making it were inspired by carl sagan at all? i don\'t think it could be just a coincidence that the title is the same as a book of his and the song names titles of chapters in the book.

Carl Sagan\'s "Dragons of Eden" is one of my all time favorite books, so I named this project after the book. I\'m happy to hear people talking about the book.

Just picked this up last night at the State Theater show in Falls Church, VA (GREAT show). Really great album. The piano and cello parts really give this album a unique flavor. Keep up the awesome work!
I think that Dragons of Eden sounds very much like a Thanotopsis recording. Mellow jams with a solid rhythm. Very Jazzy... a good addition to both Travis\'s and Buckethead\'s work. Bucketheads bass work really stands out on this. Its cool to hear that it is a product of an influence from literature.
I picked this album up a few weeks back at the Utah show and I have to say it\'s my new favorite Buckethead collaboration album. I am really in love with tracks 3 & 4, but the whole album is excellent. I really hope to hear more music like this from Bucket, Travis & Brain in the future. it\'s just that good! ;D

received my copy friday. excellent piece. i think everyone really compliments each other well. i like the jammin out style with just enough common riffs to make it feel like complete tracks.
not that it matters too much. i love just going off for days with no destination in sight too!
