Will there be a Ltd. Ed. ?

Cool. Remember DJ Bonebrake way back from the days of X. Look forward to this one.
Hey, is that cover from the Mark Twain story "A Trial"?

Don\'t kid with such serious things...
I\'ve posted a sample MP3 for this CD. The link will be on the Running After Deer page. I see there are several questions about this CD and I have received a few emails asking more about it. I don\'t want to give away the concept of the CD, or explain it really because it needs to be heard to appreciate the concept. I do want to at least answer a few questions. First, Alix Lambert\'s name is at the top of the CD. If your not familiar with her work, she is a film maker whose documentary "The Mark of Cain" was the basis for the character Viggo Mortenen plays in "Eastern Promises". Her writing includes HBO\'s "Deadwood" and "John from Cincinatti", along with several books and interviews she has conducted and published, including "Crime" a book of interviews she conducted with some very bad people. This is just a few of the many art forms she is accomplished in,( for more information, check out her website. http://www.pinkghettoproductions.com/).
Alix came to me with an idea about blending a concept she had with music. I thought it was very cool and wanted to be a part of it. I enlisted the help of some of my favorite people. Buckethead needs no introduction on this forum but D.J. Bonebrake (http://www.djbonebrakemusic.com/bio.html) has been my friend and collaborator for over 20 years. His drumming for the band X is legendary as is everything about X. If you are not familiar with them you owe it to your self to check out one of the best bands ever. http://www.xtheband.com/index.html
Paul Eckman is the upright bass player for D.J.s band "Orchestra Superstring". So while I was thinking about how to create the music for this CD, I thought this would be a unique collection of players and would create something unlike anything I\'ve done before.
I know most of the people reading this forum are interested in Buckethead and the CDs we do together. There my be certain expectations for this disc (though if anyone has discerned a pattern to the kinds of things Buckethead gets involved it, I would like you to pick stocks for me). If you like Thanatopsis, PO, Chicken Noodles and Monolith and the other things we have done together then you probably won\'t be disappointed by this disc. But I hope you enjoy the other aspects to this disc as much as I do.
Thank you Travis!!! :D
The sample is wonderful, love the feeling of "The African Toy"! Certainly looking forward to August!!!
Thank you also for the links to the amazing artists involved super!!...Cheers to everyone!!!!!
BIG HUGZ! ;D
well holy crap, Travis does the keys on Monolith, I did not know that.

Holy Smokes ! Thanks for all the info Travis, very interesting to me ;D I really enjoyed the sample too. WOW ! Very nice.
Without being over optimistic, I guess this album\'s gonna be great. ;D
Sweet! ;D Thanks for all the great info and the sample, Travis. Save a copy for me!
Awesome, just listened to the clip and it sounds really great! If the rest of the album is in the same vein, we\'re all in for a treat. As with every other album Buckethead and Travis are on, this one is so mine when it\'s released, and I\'m also anticipating what the other players will bring to the table as well.
Keep that tasty music flowing, people! 8)
Sounds schweet!
Thanks for all that info Travis, that was really cool to learn more about.
Sounds great, enjoyed the clip-\'ll be picking this up. Thanks!
The Sample is AMAZING!!! I\'m really pumped for this CD!
Wow - just listened to the sample, sounds great! looking forward to gettin\' it..... and speaking of DJ Bonebrake - X was the first real concert I ever went to, they opened for oingo boingo. I was 14 or 15, now many years later X is still one of my favorite bands. I\'m really excited for this album!
I\'m betting I will like this one alot ;D
sounds really nice! and its a very interesting concept as well. I\'ll have to check this out... :D
well sorry to pull emotions down, but i didnt like the song i liked PO, and CN I and II but this one i think ill pass
Hey there Travis, now that it\'s August and everything, would there be a possibility that you could share the tracklisting of this sure-to-be-excellent album with us?
I know I\'ve probably mentioned this before, but I like finding out the tracklisting in advance so I can ponder what the actual tracks will sound like when I get the album.
So Travis, how about a tracklisting for all the fans? 8)
The track listing will be of no help on this one. This is not a normal music CD.
There is a lot of music but there is a narrative and samples and combinations of music, samples and narrative. I posted the bit I did because in contains a little of everything.
But if your so inclined...

This sounds very interesting :) look forward to it.
Thanks Travis
good! the vaguer the better.
thanks!
Chris DiCicco
Some of the track listings seem a bit hostile when compared to the sample provided. One reference I found pertaining to the title is from England in the 1800's when the front claws or ball of a Mastiff's forefeet (or other dog breeds presumably) are cut off to prevent them from "running after deer". This was done to prevent injury to the king's deer and make them a better watchdog to protect the home. A way of controlling a beast. Mastiff's are huge, strong, courageous dogs (like a boxer). I am not exactly sure how this pertains to boxing but a boxer needs to be controlled – he can't punch anyone he wants, there are rules to follow. The "Boxer art" on the cover and title (if my reference is anything close to accurate) partly suggest to me that the hostile track titles are used to convey emotions or actions that seem cruel yet maybe necessary in an unforgiving world. Many ideas are flooding my brain and I need to think about this more but maybe I'm onto something (can you throw me a bone Travis?) Or.... maybe what I think has nothing to do with the album concept and I just wasted time on the computer when I should have gone to sleep. :-/
Thank you Travis! very intriguing track titles.... :)
Very much looking forward to hearing Running After Deer... my curiosity is piqued and tweeked even higher! ;D
BIG HUGZ! ;D
Duckhead, I like the way you think.
Thanks for the tracklisting Travis!
I already had a gut feeling that this wasn\'t going to be a "normal" album, and even though the titles of the individual tracks may not give us an insight as to how they sound, I am still intrigued by them. That is why I like to find out the tracklisting, it kind of fuels my desire for the album itself and whets my appetite.
Can\'t wait to hear this, I bet it\'s going to be a 100% unique listening experience.
"Maybe It\'s Because Your An Asshole". That\'s a song I\'d like to hear. Maybe you did this on purpose like in the movie Dodgeball, but "you\'re" is the short version of "you are"...not "your". Sorry to be a gramatical asshole.
It was in fact a mistake. The artwork was corrected and the "your" fixed. I just grabbed the wrong one to post. I\'ll correct that. Sorry what that does to your theory.
pregnant man wouldnt happen to be a reference to the hawaiin woman who got a \'sex change,\' moved to Oregon, and got pregnant? which resulted in many people thinking that a man became pregnant... in america??
I am on to something here.
QuoteDuckhead, I like the way you think.
Mahalo for the compliment Travis, that totally made my day!
Travis, have you ever caught a deer? As much as I have tried, those buggers always outrun me.
Hey Travis, August is slowly rolling in, any word on an exact release date? ;D
QuoteHey Travis, August is slowly rolling in, any word on an exact release date? ;D
I was thinking the same exact thing actually, glad someone else asked the question first. ;D
But I really want to know a bit more precisely when I can plunk down my cash to get this gem.
The CDs are being pressed right now. I\'m hoping it will be very close to the 15th.
Travis, can I have an autographed one for free? I\'ll give you a virtual gold star for awesomeness.
(or maybe something for the attempt?) :D
I\'m always happy to sign any CD anyone asks me to sign. Just ask in the comments section on the order form when you order.
Oooh I might ask for a signed Travis copy ;D
When I start getting real paychecks I am going to get another copy of Population Override just to get it signed by Travis. It is such an amazing album.

I agree, and I\'m listening to it now! ;D
hi travis, its 10 now i u said that the album is going to be released near the 15...
my question is:
Are you going to release the album, this week or the next one?
The order form will probably go up the 15th. Shipping will start the 16th.
But I thought you were going to pass on this one? Just a stickler for detail I guess . :)
yes i like to know a lot of stuff :P
I cant wait for the 15th!! Travis would you really sign it if I asked in the comments? If so then that is incredibly awesome. That is why I love all you guys. There are no other artists out there that give back to the fans like you, Buckethead, and everyone else on TDRS!

Yes. Travis will really sign your disc. I have about three signed cds, just by asking in the comment section. I would have more, but I sometimes forget to ask.
Travis, you go above and beyond in so many ways it is astounding.
