In case you don\'t know the Dr. Pepper story:
Dr. Pepper is imploring Axl Rose to put out his album that\'s been an astounding 17 years in the making. The creators of the curiously candy-like beverage have promised that if Rose releases Guns N\' Roses\' \'Chinese Democracy\' at any point in 2008, everyone in America will receive a free can of Dr. Pepper.
But free soda aside, the best part about the proposal might just be the way the company is not only relating to, but sympathizing with, the 46-year-old singer. "It took a little patience to perfect Dr Pepper\'s special mix of 23 ingredients that our fans have come to know and love," said Jaxie Alt, director of marketing for Dr. Pepper -- not even blinking at her nod to the band\'s 1989 hit \'Patience.\' "So we completely understand and empathize with Axl\'s quest for perfection -- for something more than the average album." What\'s more? The "everyone" in their promise comes with a big, wickedly funny asterisk: According to the Dr., both Slash and Buckethead will be left off the gift list. Bet they didn\'t see that coming.

Axl confirmed the following:
"We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album "Chinese Democracy," as for us, this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead\'s performances are on our album, I\'ll share my Dr Pepper with him.
Axl Rose"

Aww, I was real Ticked to hear they were gonna leave Bucket out, but then Axl said he\'d share his :).
Thats nice lol.
why would they leave bucket out?! :\'(
Quotewhy would they leave bucket out?! :\'(
I think some die-hard Guns fans are still heartbroken that Slash left and were stoked when Bucket joined but now blame him for the delay when he left in \'04. It doesn\'t matter who is in this band, they always seem to self destruct. My guess is Axl is to blame but how can a Guns fan blame him? Bucket is the scapegoat.
If your not gonna give Bucket a Dr. Pepper then don\'t give me one either because a little Bucket lives inside me. "I\'m
Spartacus Buckethead!"
so how in the hell did Dr Pepper get involved with this? haha
haha, this is so bizarre! and even though Guns N Roses isn\'t a bad band, many of their fans are closed minded balls of anger, and should do some research before dissing one of the greatest musicians of our time. Sure, Slash is ok. But he\'s very overrated, and very limited compared to the bucket wearing guitar master. and Dr. Pepper? hahaha! That is genius. Guess some people really wanna see this album.

saying "very ovverated" when regarding slash is an understatement. People can listen to him fiddle about on blues scales all they want but i\'ll always be a bucketbot *puts hand on heart* ;D
haha, exactly! Slash can only play blues rock while Bucket can play any style imaginable (and kicks Slash\'s ass at blues rock as well)
Yes great news indeed.
To be fair to Slash though, he has done some awesome guitar work in the past, and some of his licks are damn near impossible to replicate.
Awesome that Bucket is still on the album. That\'s the main thing I was interested in when I first read about this.
I will be sending My Prune Soda back yyeeuuughhhhkkk!!!!
:P
I will not be sending My Buckethead back aaaaaaauuuhhhhg!
;D

I\'m with you there. Creepy, indeed.
( lucky for me I have not eaten ANY fast food in about 20
years now ).
Okay, I know that I'm way late to the party :-[
But recently I picked up "Chinese Democracy", because it was on sale for, believe it or not, 1 cent! And I must say it's quite a surprise. To the positive! :o
Didn't have much expectations, because I have never been a big Guns N' Roses fan (sure there are a number of classics you cannot get around if you grew up in the late 80's, but they simply were not "my" band) and because the critical reception (whatever that is worth) seems mixed to negative. Also I didn't expect to hear much of Buckethead on that album, because of the ~15 years they were working on the album, he was only in the band for ~3 years. And, as there seemed to be some kind of "controversy" between Axel and Buckethead when he left, it would have been quite possible that Axel didn't use any of Bucket's material. That guy (Axel) is known for his "extravagances". But now that I gave the album a few listens, I must say that there is lot of Buckethead on that album! I guess most people out there simply don't notice, but if you are familiar with his other works, you can clearly hear Buckethead's style on most of the tracks. I would even go as far to say that besides Axel, who of course dominates the entire album, it's definitely Buckethead who had the biggest impact on the sound of that album. Given his rather short involvement, that's quite impressive. There's even some Bucket-style Spanish guitar ("If the World") and some DeathCubeK-style ambient ("Sorry") in a few places, both of which you'd never expected on a Guns N' Roses record otherwise. They should have called it "Axel's Bucket of Guns" :P.
Overall it may not be among my favorite albums, but it's definitely a good one. Crazy I almost missed that one...
