Title: Question for bucketbots and Travis regarding...
Post by: fdsman on March 22, 2008, 08:33:00 PM
Public album releases. I\'m just curious as to why a lot of Buckethead albums are not available in big super mega record stores. I do understand that Buckethead is an underground artist. However I\'m just wondering how a Guitar Hero II kid would find Enter the Chicken at his local Tower Records.

-Thanks,

I would say Enter The Chicken is pretty easy to get a hold of.

I know what you mean about the cds being hard to find at local retailers. where I live you can only get BH cds at Borders, luckily I find a few at the used cd store. Try to support local mom&pop type retailers rather than big super mega record stores. The smaller shops are more likely to keep their customers happy and order what you want rather than shoving  the current flavor of the week down your throat (like big record stores do).

All the CDs we carry here are being distributed through a distribution arrangement we worked out recently. They should be available in the big retailers and mom and pops. CDs are just getting to stores now. But this is the indy music business, the number manufactured and ultimately sold are very low compared to label artists.
Even a couple of CDs distributed in every city they are being distributed to exhausts the number we can make and thats directly tied to the demand.
If distribution can even work at this level is still unknown, but we are going to give it a try. If you don\'t see a CD you want at your regular CD store, ask them to get them in. They are available to the retailer. Of coarse there is no substitute for buying them here from us. Our hope is not to lose our regular customers to retailers but to make the CDs available to those that don\'t know about us and buy from unscrupulous  sellers.

Ah, thanks Travis. Speaking of Buckethead albums, is there a cut off date for Monolith, ISOT, Blueprints and DCK? I\'m asking because I\'ve almost got enough to buy all those albums.

Only CDs that have "limited" in the title description on this site will be "cut off".
ISOT and DCK limited expired last year but are available in non limited versions as are all the limited CD\'s. Right now only two CDs are available as limited numbered editions, Blueprints and Cyborg Slunks. Those will end but all these are available in non limited editions now and always will be.
