A couple of poor souls on eBay are bidding for Buckethead\'s live CDs produced by CDOD live.
Currently the high bid for the Langerado live set is $100 and the Mishawaka set is around $40-$50.
Both of the CD sets are still for sale directly from CDODlive.com for $17.99
I recently purchased both of these a couple of months ago.
This is the same seller who is selling how now brown cow on eBay currently as well.
I just thought this was interesting
It really isn\'t the seller\'s fault that people are too stupid and lazy to do a little research before shelling out $100 for a CD.
If that\'s the case, they deserve to pay $100 for a CD. Google is just a click away, it wouldn\'t hurt to actually find out what you\'re buying.
I never said I\'m blaming the seller............ I just thought it was interesting.
Much props to the seller as a matter-of-fact
Cheers
I\'m not suggesting that you\'re blaming the seller, I just figure instead of "Poor Souls" it should be more like "Dumb Souls". And you\'re right, it IS interesting. ;D
Looks to me like that\'s a big part of ebay, taking advantage of lazy, misinformed and/or "dumb" people who are willing to (or easily tricked to) part with major sums of cash for something that can readily be found elsewhere.
It\'s a smart business strategy when you think about it, and the seller isn\'t doing anything illegal, he\'s just not saying "ok, I\'m selling this thing here, but you can it even cheaper HERE".. since that wouldn\'t be smart. ;D
Caveat Emptor
?
It means to the buyer beware.
just because people are dumb enough to be ripped off doesnt make it right. its still scummy.
xactly, i try to let people know and be a good citizen, no wonder this guys got the devil for an avatar
People have to keep in mind that ebay is the place where a grilled cheese sandwich with a virgin mary burn pattern sold for $60,000 (yes sixty thousand). For some people price doesn\'t matter, it\'s just money.
I buy and sell alot on ebay and love the site, a few years ago I sold a couple of my collections and made over $15,000 in a 2 month period to make a downpayment on our house. I was stoked! As long as the seller is not falsifying the description (and most ebay sellers are honest) it is the buyers duty to research the item. I am a firm believer in Personal Responsibilty. Some bidders get in a bidding war (it seems some peoples egos can\'t handle getting outbid so they bid an item way past its actual value) and as a seller I love those bidders. Why they didn\'t do more research is beyond me? Maybe research takes time and time is money so if you don\'t have the time (or know-how) to research then you are willing to pay more?.
The other factor about ebay is timing. If many of one particular item is up for sale at the same time the final cost will be less. Also luck is involved, who is on the ebay site this week? for example, I had a book I listed at 99 cents opening bid, no-one bought it. Two months later I relisted it at the same price and it sold for $25. Just happens that 2 bidders wanted it at the same time that week.
If you want to buy something on ebay and it comes up periodically try to wait until the summer to bid on it. It is a proven fact that in the winter more people are indoors and on the computer, therefor items on ebay sell for more money. In the summer more people are on vacation and outdoors.
Back to the topic of this thread - Poor fool? I think uneducated & impatient bidder is better description.
congrats, the title of this thread has already been discussed and i\'m not confused about the workings of ebay i just pitty the person paying for the said item. wow i did it in 2 senteences instead of 3 paragraphs. :-X but damn dude write a book
and i changed the title of the thread so it\'s P.C.
My post was not directed at you DUFFATRON but to help any inexperienced ebayer that might be reading this (just one bot trying to help another). And to emphasize mikef9621 & Beezlebob's points, just because a buyer pays more than they should doesn't make the seller "scummy".
I get the feeling you are somehow making fun of me, not sure why. I guess it\'s a good thing I eliminated the other 4 paragraphs I was going to post ( ;Dhehe). Negative comments to me are like rain drops on a duck's back.... they just roll off. Yeah, I talk a lot and am long winded – so what? Here in Hawaii it's called "talk story" (just trying to spread the aloha).
In retrospect I apologize for getting worked up there was no need for that
