Title: My question(s) for Travis
Post by: eazycomez on November 07, 2007, 08:43:36 PM
My friend and I were listening to Population Override, which happens to be the greatest album ever, and were asking eachother a few questions. I doubt you would have any of the answers, Travis, but I thought I would ask anyway.
First, are there any plans for another album like PO?
Also, we were listening to David Gilmour\'s "On An Island" that day and I was really amazed that he is still creating such great music in his 60\'s, I can only imagine what Buckethead will do by the time he\'s that age  ;)
Anyway, we were just wondering if Buckethead listens to or even respects DG?

The quick answer is, yes I\'m sure we will. And I think he does admire DG if I remember right.

Wow, I really can\'t explain how excited I would be to get another album similar to Population Override.  That album is pure musical genius.

Agreed - PO is one the best albums recorded ever!  i can\'t wait for future Travis BH collaborations in the studio and hopefully a live gig.  I\'ll fly to CA or anywhere else to see that show in a heart beat!!!

Trav,

it\'s cool you answered the question about Gilmour.

I\'ve always suspected that B is a fan. There\'s a solo on Pop Override that sounds inspired by Comfortably Numb.

Thanks.

PO is just perfect. I love that album!

I\'m sure BH is inspired by a bunch of those old guitar greats but I wonder how he feels about Jake Shimabukuro. A 31 year old ukulele virtuoso and possibly the fastest hands in the world on one. Like BH he spans many styles of music. I would love to hear a Hawaiian inspired duet with BH. It would be sure to blow minds!

Was that guy on Leno or Conan O Brien one night?  I saw some guy on one of those shows that was shredding a ukele.

Yep! Pop Override is one my all-time favs, too. I love BH on his own, but when he works with others, his playing style changes so drastically, it\'s really remarkable! I love his sound and phrasing when he plays with Travis. I think Trav really brings out the best of BH - you can tell he\'s on his toes and thinking. For me, it can\'t happen often enough and I really wish they would brainstorm more together and find new directions.

Population Override is probably my favorite Buckethead album of all time, I would LOVE to hear a "sequel" of sorts to that one!  8)

yeah - he has been on both shows. There are lots of videos on youtube and his myspace page is pretty good. I couldn\'t find his more trippy stuff but check this song if interested :

My question about Population Overide has always been about the cover. Maybe this is a question for Frankenseuss but here it is anyway...Is there a reason why the Toronto skyline was used as the cover art? Just a curiosity.

Me and a buddy of mine have standing plans to fly from Oklahoma to Cali (or anywhere need be) to see the TD/BH combo in any form. If this were to happen it would be a dream come true!

I thought it was pretty cool to see the Toronto skyline on a BH album, but it would be even better if he would come to TO to play. He hasn\'t been here since he opened for Primus at least 5 years ago. It might  have been even longer.
