Title: Recommendations??
Post by: BHBoss on September 09, 2007, 04:22:27 PM
I have many individual Buckethead songs, but was wanting to get some full albums. I just ordered Cuckoo Clocks of Hell, and want some more stuff like buckethead\'s heavier and crazier stuff. Any help would be great.

Since ur down with the heavy stuff, its for your own good that you buy The Elephant Man\'s Alarm Clock and Inbred Mountain. But if you can only get one of them get the elephant man\'s alarm clock.

Thanks I had those two in mind but wasn\'t sure. I also really like slower songs like soothsayer, what would you recommend in this category?

Mellow:  1.  *Colma  2. *Electric Tears 3. *Acoustic Shards

Jazz/Blues:  1a.  *Population Override 1b.  any of the 3 *Thanatopsis CDs 1c.  *Chicken Noodles 6. Gorgone - Gorgone

Heavy and electronic:  1.  Both *Cobra Strike Cds 2. *Somewhere Over the Slaughterhouse 3.  Day of the Robot 4. I need 5 Minutes Alone - Pieces 5. KFC Skinpiles

Mellow and Erie:  1.  *DCK 2. Dreamatorium 3. Disembodied  4. Tunnel

Heavy with a story telling or singing 1.  Bucketheadland 2. Bucketheadland 2 3.  Bucketheadland Blueprints 4. Dawn of the Deli Creeps 5. Enter the Chicken 6. any cornbugs (less heavy more zany)

Mellow and poetry - 1. T.A.Z. - Hakim Bay 2. Any Vigo Cds

Jazz Fusion:  1.  *Arc of the Testimony - Arcana 2. *Octave of the Holy Innocent - Hellborg, Buckethead, Schieve

yeah cool review....  8)

but do  you really think DCK is mellow.... what does mellow actually mean... isn´t like "soft"... ? What would be a synonym for mellow?

The new DCK? don\'t bother getting it man its literally just a bunch of weird noises and not so much structured

Do you mean weird noises coming from a guitar or something else, if it is guitar I might like it. Also does anyone know when peppers ghost will be back in stock? One last thing what albums have loads of soloing?

Weird noises coming from a guitar.  Ambient stuff.

And Mozy nailed it with his review.  Very nicely done.  Just listen to him and you\'ll be fine.  And definitely get EMAC as fast as possible.

Well, it\'s more like which albums don\'t have soloing.  So it really depends on the type of soloing you want (metal or funk, soft or fast, etc).  Since you said you wanted the heavier stuff, the best heavy stuff with solos (and I\'m probably forgetting something crucial):

Inbred Mountain, Kaleidoscalp, Cobra Strike - The 13th Scroll, Cobra Strike II Y, Y + B, X + Y

Not quite as heavy but a ton of soloing:

Elephant man\'s alarm clock, NTT (download legally for free), Crime Slunk Scene, In Search of The, Population Override, and any Thanatopsis album is incredible soloing.

Based on what you\'ve said, I\'d recommend going EMAC, then Inbred, then Kaleidoscalp, then others.

Thanks, this also really helps!!! I have a few songs from Kaleidoscalp, but wasn\'t sure about the ones that are supposedly kind of hip hop, how are those songs?

I\'m not sure about them either, cuz I don\'t think they exist.  Buckethead definitely has hip hop influenced songs, but I don\'t know about this album.

Alright I think I\'m going to order EMAC, Inbred Mountain, Cobra Strike II Y, Y + B, X + Y, and Crime Slunk Scene. After these down the line: Pepper Ghost, Kaleidoscalp, Monsters and Robots, and Population Override. Sound good?

Love all of those songs, esp Splintered Triplet, but "Phantom Lights" could be worth the price of admission alone!
