Hey, I was hoping I could get some recommendations for what my next Buckethead CD should be.
These are the CD\'s I still need:
Gorgone
Island Of Lost Minds
Death Cube K "Tunnel"
Death Cube K "Disembodied"
Bucketheadland II
Funnel Weaver
i would say island of lost minds first.
and from what i\'ve heard from gorgone, that too.
funnel weaver is probably one of my least favorites, but still get it.
bhl ii is pretty out there, but interesting.
and death cube k is very unique and kinda creepy.
I would say :
buy Bucketheadland II and Island of Lost Minds tomorrow.
Gorgone and Funnel Weaver the day after.
and the two Death Cube K the day after.
Or maybe you should begin today.
May I allso suggest Kaleidoscalp.
A cd that suprised me a lot.

I already have that one... didn\'t like it too much.
I think I\'ll order IoLM and BHL2 after I get the Thanatopsis CD I ordered
My picks would be
1. Bucketheadland 2
2. Gorgone
3. Island of Lost Minds
4. Funnel Weaver
Some folks don\'t care for BHL2, but I think its pretty damned awesome, some of the tunes are simply menacing and really set the mood for the whole disc.

I wholeheartedly agree with what you said.
You can\'t go wrong with any of them. The Death Cube X CDs are very different & you may need to preview those before you buy. But I love all of them. BH2 is about what I expected & sounds just right after listening to the original Bucketheadland. Funnel Weaver is probably going to be the most played CD by bands needing riffs or song ideas. I love the idea & it is pretty amazing. Island & Gorgone wail away. I hope you have The Elephant Mans alarm clock. It really is so far ahead of what people are listening to now that it will be regarded as a classic someday. As will most of Bucketheads work. He is a real artist. He has already recorded more great music in 13 or so years than most musicians do in a lifetime.

I absolutely agree, and T.E.M.A.C is just a mind blowing album, there\'s no other way to describe it. So hard to say \'that\'s my favourite\' with any Buckethead record because everything is so diverse and ineresting in it\'s own way, but i think it probably is the best thing he has ever done.
I actually like Funnel Weaver best of the bunch, with the Death Cube K cds then Island of Lost Minds after those. Like most people that listen to BH, I listen pretty intently, but with Funnel Weaver you can do other things and just let it play. The ideas are awesome, as are the variety of effects and chord shapes. Some of the techno beats get repetitive, but in a way it helps tie it all in together, and because there are so many tunes (49?) you\'ll listen to it for months and every now and then something will still catch your ear and you\'ll go, "Wow! What track was that?"
Island of Lost Minds is very similar to Clocks from Hell, perhaps being even a bit MORE challenging to listen to. I give it the occasional listen to break things up (since I "discovered" BH, I\'d say he\'s about 90% of all I listen to anymore, and this comes from a BIG lover of straight-ahead jazz and classical music), but it\'s not on the regular rotation.
I also wanted to chime in on Elephant Man with a whole-hearted "YES"; I also think it\'s the best thing he\'s done so far as far as solo albums go, right up there with the first two Thanatopsis cds and Giant Robot NNT. Just the right amount of abstraction to keep it interesting, yet enough hooks and intense soloing to make it extremely listenable. I love Robot Assembly - you can really "see" all the machinery at work ... but perhaps this is for another topic.
Of those CDs, I\'d definitely pick up the Island of Lost Minds. There\'s a quality about IoLM that is unique from any of BH\'s other stuff (which is quite a statement). Throughout the entire CD, Bucket has two "lead" guitars playing adjacent to eachother that I imagine represent the "lost minds" talking. Sounds retarted, but it\'s cool, and there\'s definitely some neat stuff on the CD.
I would recommend picking up "Tunnel" LAST, if at all. You probably won\'t like it too much unless you plan on operating a haunted house attraction this October and want some creepy ambiance noises.
BH Land 2 has some great stuff (its almost worth it for the last thirty seconds of "Frozen Brains" alone) mixed in with a lot of fluff and an annoying girl.
Gorgone\'s decent. Like Population Override, but less serious.
Funnel Weaver is beyond me. It\'s the only Bucket CD I\'ve been dissapointed with.
I\'d say in this order:
Gorgone - if you like Pop Override
Isl. of Lost Minds - if you want heavy, speed metal-ish
Bucketheadland II - good, a bit too many voice-overs
Funnel Weaver - 50 1 min. riffs/grooves. etc.
Death Cube K "Tunnel" - very "ambient" work
Death Cube K "Disembodied" - very "ambient" work
I love the voices in Bucketheadland II. All of them.
I would like a Bucket (acoustic) + Albert (singing) whole album.
And, remember, "He\'s got a Bucket on his HEAAAAAAAAD"
