Title: Good anti-war organizations to connect with?
Post by: svale on January 19, 2006, 06:46:37 PM
Question for TD artists or other musicians/artists on this board:

Do you know of any good \'anti-war\' organizations that it may be possible for emerging artists to connect up with, and possibly advertise for at their shows?  I\'m thinking along the lines of how U2 supports the ONE campaign, and also with World Vision, they have an \'artist program\' where they offer a bit of money to the artist for each show (based by number of attendees) if they agree to have a WV booth on site, and say a few words - similar to that,  but I\'m not interested in the money part - just in having something really worthwhile to connect in with and have materials available if anyone\'s interested... and more focussed on peace, than necessarily world hunger, though of course that\'s another immense issue.
e.g, I understand Viggo has been very vocal in the anti-war area, but does he actually link up with any particular known groups??    and/or do any of the TDRS artists?   (hey, if not, maybe he or someone else should start one and then artists could apply to be associated)    :-)

I don\'t know, just trying to figure out how to make a difference in this crazy world through music..

Their statement of purpose: http://www.forusa.org/about/sop.html

From their statement, one tenent for their members is "Refuse to participate in any war or to sanction military preparations; work to abolish war and promote good will among races, nations and classes".
