I know just what you mean gkg. I got my mom & dad a DVD player & some of their favourite movies in special editions. They thought that was great. They brought us 2 cases of Niagara Peninsula wines, which we thought was great (not to mention yummy)!

And my guy got (among other things) a book he\'d had out of the library & had been slavering over (George Ifrah\'s History of Numbers), but was too cheap to buy for himself. I love doing stuff like that!

I knew all about my gifts ahead of time, but I\'m going to enjoy Neal Stephenson\'s Baroque Cycle (all 3 volumes) no less for that. And I guess my copy of This That & The Other will probably arrive in time for New Years.

It seems a little crass to be enjoying gifts when there are disasters on all sides, but somehow I feel that we need some relief & time-out for ourselves so we can go on helping others...you know?

i completely agree - it is rather guilt making.  then the thought came to me - you have to take a little time to feed your inner being or soul - it not you are of no use to others.

:-X yes I am not blind I was hezatint on posting something like this, why\'d he call it Christmas Gore... becuse you wake up in the mornings new light and the Presents are nice in comfort all snuggled close to this big vision ( the Tree) and then the footsteps from the stairs get louder an louder an louder then Kids of all ages ( You, Me and Everyone included ) proceed to rip the new flesh from the tightly rapped boxes insueing Christmas Gore, the onlypeople who do not to this are the people at the Toy Conventions " keep it in the box it\'ll be worth more later " I\'m a nutter for saying this.....
