What a pleasant suprise. Only ordering the cd on Wednesday from PP (no offense Travis I also ordered some books) It arrived a few moments ago. PP are on top of things! I know what I will be doing this weekend, Reading and listening. I am currently listening on my small cd player here at work, oh wow.... nice string work Travis! Ok, I am absolutely loving this. Don\'t wish to ruin it for anyone but I couldn\'t wait, had to share this moment with all of you, who I know would appriciate the excitement. I have now listend to it two & 1/2 times. in the middle of it again right now. Ok as you say you weirdo! But it really is that good. Yes it is along the lines of Moonset, of course we are talking about a concept here so it has stayed true to that idea, however each track has its own spice. This colobaoration is truely a treat. And not to spoil too much there is a piano solo track that will set you into another world. Very Mesmorizing. Also I am even more anxious now to get into Buckeheds music due to another track. I do hope your mail comes on Saturday but let me tell you it is worth the wait.
Please be bold, I do not mind to share. The books that I ordered are the two from Mike Davis, Land of lost Mammoths and to continue the adventure, Pirates, Bats and Dragons.
I have had an interest in the first one when it first came out but found out there was to be a second and well I knew the antisipation for the second would have done me in so I waited and got both of them at the same time. I also was intrigued by Hinemoana Baker\'s Poems so I also purchased Matuhi / Needle. The art work by Jenny Rendall is quite beautiful. As are of course the illustrations for Mike Davis\'s books by William Simpson. I can\'t wait to get to reading. May I be so bold as to ask which books you had ordered?

I look forward to the mail\'s arrival now. Especially since I know Buckethead is involved in this latest album. I heard he was considered one of the greatest musicians of our time, and until I heard Colma, I didn\'t really grasp what that meant.

Orders that came in on the afternoon of the 15th and on the 16th, got shipped out Friday. Friday\'s orders went out Saturday. Friday was a bit of a crazy day to say the least but I\'m betting a whole bunch of you see your CD\'s on Monday. International order may take a bit longer.
I ordered PT 9/15 and it turned up in NY 9/17 and I\'ve been listening to it ever since. I really (REALLY) like MOONSET, SWALLOWS TO BATS and SUNRISE.
Travis, may I ask, what strings in particular?
The tracks flow so eloquently one to the other.

It\'s a sampled cello I really like the sound of. I used the the same sound on both the Thanatopsis CD\'s as well.

that cello on Thanatopsis rocks! my former sister-in-law is a cellist (she studied at Middlebury, Vt & Freiburg Germany, etc) - and the sound on that is nearly as clear as her\'s.

Ocean, I do hope you will see your books and cd\'s today. I believe the first book I ordered from PP was the Horse is Good. It is that and more. I too love horses, unfortunately riding them as I would wish too is not a pleasure I am afforded. Living in the desert where the average summer temp is 112 makes it difficult. People do it but I would not put this precious animal through that for my pleasure. I was however fortunate to be able to take a ride in May on the cliffs over looking the "OCEAN" in Hawaii. Beautiful. If it were accessible I would ride everyday. Anyway, the book.. Amazing photographs. When I can look at a photograph and see a story that I otherwise would not have been able to see I am captured. Mr. Mortensen does that for me in every photo he takes. You will enjoy this book. I Read "Land of the Lost Mammoths" on Saturday. What a great book. It was exciting at every paged turned, moved quickly and kept me on my toes, obviously, couldn\'t put it down. I highly recommend it if your up for an adventure young and old. I can\'t wait to start in on Pirates, Bats and Dragons, was going to on Sunday but began another painting instead. So maybe we can compare notes when we are finished! ;)

After a long day of training, and aggrevation by my in laws, I put in the tray and sat back to listen.
A beautiful experiment in sound. It took me to a place of peace and calm,and caused my mind to wander to more plesant plains of thought.

Well, here it is the 21st. of September and no "Please Tomorrow" or, "LBB2"! :\'(
I placed my order and received a confirmation Email from PP on the 15th. Paid nearly 12$ for Priority Mail shipping via/ USPS. (Not an option, it\'s just PP\'s mode of shipping), which is suppose to deliver in 2 ~ 3 days!
The real bummer is, I Emailed PP for an order number on that package so as to track it\'s whereabouts via the USPS website and I lay odd\'s I\'ll never read a reply to that request, because PP CS , after one orders, in my experience, sucks!
This has moved beyond patience , to the realm of upset. I paid what amounts to 3$ for each item I purchased, in shipping. And 5 days later I have zip to show for that priority charge.
Tomorrow will be the 6th day, and I\'ll lay odd\'s, no package arrives and I\'ll still not have a response from PP per a tracking number on this shippment.
I adore VM recordings, but I\'ll never order from PP again. It isn\'t worth the hassel. And the indifferent attitude toward Customers Service, is unacceptable, much less disrespectful.
Arrrrgh! And then some!
Ocean. That is unfortunate. It seemed the first reports here about PP\'s service were very good. My connections to PP are only peripheral, but if the opportunity arises I\'ll pass your concerns along.
before you get too upset with Perceval i wonder if you ordered them together. if you did, you are waiting for them to get their supply of BB2 in, because that is marked as not available until 9/22. most likely, they will start processing those orders tomorrow or Thursday.
i do have to say though, ordering from Travis is simpler, and cheaper, and there is the added benefit of there being a live person at the other end. i think CS at Perceval is probably a part-time thing and once they get in they have myriad things to contend with. just a guess, but it would make sense - they\'re a small print house and i think nearly everyone, including Viggo naturally, has other things they are involved in.
i got my copy of Please Tomorrow yesterday and it came with me to work today - wonderful and i can\'t seem to stop finding different little nuances... very pleased, very.
That is very discouraging. I understand your frustration, but please don\'t give up on PP. Not to defend anyone but they are actually adhearning to ther terms of their orders. Take a look at the PP website and click on "contact us" there is a link to FAQ and in that, one of the questions is...

Shipping is via US Post Office Priority Mail for domestic shipments (5 to 7 days) and Global Priority and Air Mail for International Shipments (7 to 10 days).
In fact, there is alot of good information there about how the company works. As to why you have not received a reply to your email request ...your guess is a good as mine, but I can tell you that being shipped USPS there is no tracking like say.. UPS or FED-EX (unless you purchase additional confirnmation & PP does not offer that service)
I was very lucky & thankful to receive this recent order in great time. To be honest with you I was in total suprise that I recieved it within two days as I was fully expecting to see it at least a week later. I have ordered several things from PP with no problems, but probably too if I did not know their policy I would have been interested to know what was taking so long. So please hang in there, PP is a really good place. Forget the whole Viggo Mortensen connection and think about the artists and their material who\'s books otherwise might not have been given to us if they weren\'t around.
This doesn\'t help the frustrastion I know, especially when there is so much anticipation on receiveing this work, I sympathize there completely, my hope is that it will ease the wait a little :)

You might try eMailing PP with the "order number" issued your order on your "thank you for ordering from PP" eMail you received and see what they say. There are probably quite a few mails to get through there but I have never gone without a response almost the next day.
However at times delivery takes more than a week due to availability, packing, etc. I heard one person got a handwritten note in her package about BB2 being delayed. Chill, other people didn\'t, she just won the lottery...also it is delayed until October 4th now.

Ocean sorry to hear that you\'re having a rough time at the mo with PP. If it makes you feel any better...I ordered the same CDs as you & mine haven\'t arrived either...tho due to BB2 not coming out until the 22...I sort of understood that they would wait till that date to send anything out to me...here in the UK.
However, I\'ve some had problems with PP in the past over a faulty book of theirs, which was replaced several times with the same fault! In the end we came to a compromise regarding compensation...and the person from CS was very nice in the end & exchanged many emails with me to resove the issue.
Try not to worry ok...PP are probably just very busy at the mo. Anyway...bet you get your copies before me!

My neighbour who was picking up our mail brought it over this morning, and Please Tomorrow was in it (oh yeah, Thanatopsis & Axiology, too -- I\'ll get to them soon ;) ). She says they came on Tuesday, which is nothing short of miraculous when Canada Post is involved -- got a break & didn\'t get charged by Customs either! 8)
I\'ve had my issues with Perceval too, but I would have ordered PT here anyway, just because Travis is so good to us. BTW, you can pick up BB2 through Mark Eleveld\'s site (EM Press), and their shipping is very reasonable.
I need to listen to PT again...and again...&c Just got swept away on the dream-time the first go through. Nocturne especially -- think I could put that one on an infinite do-loop. I can see the inspiration catching me, too, but don\'t know if I\'ll come up with anything as special as what\'s already posted. Thanks for sharing the results of your inspiration!

I ordered it from TDRS and have really been impressed. As with pandemoniumfromamerica, this Viggo/Travis/Henry/Buckethead collaboration is intensely soulful. The instrumental landscape created on PT is evocative of Mr. Mortensen\'s poetry on PFA. Interesting that the musicial dialogue was no less poignant without vocals...Which is to say: Travis, you guys ROCK!!! Thank you for producing another great album.

just got my copy of \'PT\'. (ordered it on the 15th got it on the 28th, which isn\'t so bad as i\'m in the UK), any way,
after listening to all the tracks, \'[glb]Sunrise[/glb]\' is my favourite ( Buckethead plays beautifully!) , with \'[glb]Moonset[/glb]\' a close second!
too loud or unbalanced? the music,, not you! i had trouble with it on my laptop, but on the stereo it sounds great, so blame your speakers perhaps?
:D It is nice to read other reviews that match my feelings of PT. This is one album that I have been able to listen to whatever my mood and have found something new each time. Some other albums seem to be mood sensitive for me, glad this is not one of them :D
I really like the classical guitar sounds in Sunrise, reminded me of when I was a kid and took classical guitar lessons. I never really was very good, but it has given me a lasting appreciation for the sounds of it.

It took a little time (but then, I had it on at work, and you know how distracting work can be) but I really find it to be amazing! It\'s got something that takes me to an uncomplicated place, that is far away from the ordinary!
I have found it quite interesting to listen to while sleeping.

I\'ve found the best way for me to listen to PT is on surround sound in the room next to my computer room. Sounds like I have someone in the next room playing soundtrack while I write (oh, I wish!). ;D
Anyways, this seems to lessen the choppy sound of some of the key cords--perhaps VM was playing as inspired instead of having something down on paper--that\'s how I\'m preceiving it, but love it, none the less. ::)

I wonder if Travis could enlighten us as to whether the music was written down beforehand or spontaneous.
It reminded me of when i was a kid and used to mess around with sounds on my electric organ ( played with not one but two fingers!!, lol)
The CD is very much improvised. I\'m curious, comments like "it bites into my head" and "it gives me an ear ache" are not exactly the things you like to hear about something you\'ve recorded, can you elaborate a little. It\'s not that we weren\'t trying to bite into your head or give you an ear ache but I would kinda like to know how we succeeded.
i gotta say for me it\'s all in the equipment - hey, watch that thought, you know where i\'ll take it... :-*
seriously, when listening to it on the laptop it does have some jangling jarring aspects - in listening to it on the stereo the fullness of sound brings that back to something more intense but enjoyably so rather than biting into ones head.
personally, none of it gave me an ear ache, and i\'ve heard nothing but good things from Max about it - she\'s a pretty sharp critic on things like that so if it "sounds like a cat in death spasm on a keyboard" i would hear about it. yes, that\'s a real review from her about another musician long ago - we didn\'t buy the CD.

Travis, I am not sure if I could express anymore then I already have that I have thoroughly enjoyed PT and am rolling in the accomplishment of your success, but then again... of course I can.... ;)
I have listened to this CD in all kinds of ways, that of course except well, what was it you said gkg something about equipment?? Um yeah need to do that...
I have used this music in meditation, listened while sleeping, while awake and focused. While painting and writing, heck even planting flowers. The atmosphere created by this music has been ideal for some amazing things that have happened while doing these things.
I have listened on my small clock CD player, my stereo at home and my computer, which by the way, on the media player has a feature that will allow you to watch the music in all different patterns...too see it, the music actually moving... amazing! I highly recommend this and no illegal substances needed.
And now that you are all calling me psycho for listening so much...but I really am enjoying PT and quite simply because....it\'s different.
It really does "bit into your head" Some may say that in another way but I mean it has made a very good indention in my brain.
Each time you play it, there is always something new to hear. Listening on different playing devices only gives, I think, another perspective of the sound. Sometimes piano may be in the front then the next time its in the back and same thing for the guitars and bass and rhodes and strings and drums, I even believe, whether it\'s true or not, that there are other sounds which have not been identified. Perhaps maybe this is just another amazing thing that this creates?? or I really could be psycho ;D
The only "aching in the ears" I seem to find is when it\'s over and my ears ache to hear it again.
You have proven once again Travis, as I expressed in my first response when joining this forum, that you truely are a master at your craft. After all, it is that of putting it all together so we hear it as we do, that is left up to you, for yourself and the artists who depend upon you to make what they have done sound so good and for all to enjoy it. No ass kissing here just speaking the truth.

:\'( Sorry Travis I am A little deaf in one ear especialy on the highway when the windows are rolled down the wind is coming into the car from the window and it reverberates off this hole in my eardrum, oh and I play guitar and Bass real loudlike and some RINGING keys really get to me like I was in the music deparment spying around and they had two things one of which I do not know the name and another a room sized organ well the organ needs electricity and thee other did not so I stepped on a pedal and RINNNNGGG right to my head ouch . So to be absulotly postive PLEASE TOMORROW is a Fabulous sound track for the best parts of the Night (i.e.) Late Night Early Morning and the Buet Sunrise, also going back in time to the 80\'s ( I ain\'t tellin when ) I had ear infections till I was 12 er 13? so the scars inside my ears never really healed up proper like KAY! now that I\'ve reveiled my childhood drama nightmares and results ( take your pick ) I will go slink into song and listen to PT agien.

One thing that can be said about a Viggo album collaboration; it\'s never mundane .
There are so many under currents in this album and yet it maintains a cohesive theme beneath all that brilliance sounding above, that I think I could listen to it again and again and continue to find little nuances I never noticed before.

And I look forward even more now, to the arrival of BB2.

Ultasonic tone? hum, now that makes sense. I think there is one in there, only we can\'t hear it. My cat however can. His ears perk up at the most interesting times and he seems to have a glossy stare as he rolls around while listening, my impression is that he likes it since he does this next to the speaker......Normally if he doesnt like something he goes outside.......You guys might be on to something.......music for cats...

I\'m glad you all mentioned your animials, I have noticed my Great Dane, 6 yr old Heidi, looking intently at me when I play PT, like Right Now! The 2 yr old Boxer, Shayla goes in the other room, but then she chews on almost anything I give her and barks at the wind. Her sense of sound must be a little different.
As for the "brain exploding tone", I can\'t wait to pass that on to my ex. He thinks he\'s a real music buff, actually tone deaf and partially hearing deaf, so it might REALLY get into his brain, or not.............will have to see.
Do you think the sound could be transmitted over the phone with the same effect? Sorry, my mind is wandering. I\'m enjoying the piano and Bongos (?) in Dream One.
I haven\'t played PT for my horses yet, but kinda think they might like something else. They seem to like a faster more regular beat that they can move to more rhythmically. Maybe they might like Moonset or Sunrise?Some of them really get into certain songs like Wipe Out and the theme to Hawaii 5-O. Who knew? Horses are busic buffs too.
Like SNGWTHME said, maybe it was subconciously created for all animals. Could this be a new way to market PT? Not just for you, but for your animals too!
I must say, this album is causing a lot of thought in a variety of directions.

by the way, have you had Shayla\'s ears checked - it sounds like something might be irritating them, making them over sensative.
the stray who\'s trying to adopt us seems to like PT a lot. then again she also likes when i crank up Patsy or Jewel and belt out the tunes.

As for Shayla, she seems to hear fine when she wants to, I just think she is an independant thinker and wants to call the shots and be followed, not the follower. I will keep an eye out for sensitive ears though, just to make sure.
Still listening to PT, and got caught up in it and noticed a new sound like wind chimes. sounded really great..........................Actually was wind chimes here in the house. I have the sliding glass door open and wind chimes hung just inside the door and the wind struck them a bit here and there and really blended nicely.
Maybe a new sound idea for the next one Viggo?

I got my copy of "Please Tomorrow" this morning ;D and rushed out to buy a personal CD player, so I don`t drive Hubby mad with my music at full blast :o It`s so soothing, I`m going to be playing this ALL the time, and the last 2 are my favourite :D

I received Please Tomorrow a few weeks ago and have been listening to it in aw like everyone else here. I couldn\'t put into words what I thought about the CD until I red someone else\'s comments on viggo online about PT.

After looooong waiting I finally got my PT, from PP and the problem was not at them but at USPS. They kept the pakage for almost 2 weeks before sending it away to Sweden. I have as all of you listened to the cd and I have only one question... ARE YOU DEAF? As far as I can hear it is 35 min. of people tuning their instruments until they finally begin to play Moonset and Sunrise. Which are the only two tracks worth listening to. I do not see myself as a critical person but to pay $24 for 5 minutes of good music is a bit too expensive. I don\'t even think of it as a rare cd from a rare person. I love VM\'s poetry and photographs but I do not care for his music when it is as experimental as this. I hope I am not in his dreams because it seems more like night mare to me....*huuuuuuuu*
So I go for Buckethead, Thanatopsis, Radiohead, Bjork and Depeche mode. They have at least rhythm in there music even though it is also experimental.

Exactly gkg. I don\'t believe that everyone would or even should like this CD. That is the beauty of music, only music is true to itself no matter what form. I am actually glad to hear your opinion of this and it not all being positive. There has to be that balance. So thank you Pax for sharing that. Moonset and Sunrise are a highlight of this CD, none have argued on that, but to get to the moon setting and the sun rising we must endure the journey of the night. That is what I take away form this experience of Please Tomorrow. When you next sleep, remember your nights dreams. Broken up pieces of ideas thrown together to make some or no sense, but somehow you understand it in the end. Moonset and Sunrise become the peaceful understanding to the ending of the night. I believe that all of us who have raved about this CD have recognized that and is where our compliments come from. Not speaking for everyone but maybe that might shed some light to you as to why we enjoyed it so much.

Personally, I love Nocturne! But what I like most, after more than a dozen listenings, is the progression through the falling asleep through dreaming through half-awake states. Funny, I\'ve reached a stage with music where I don\'t need to LIKE everything I hear. Sometimes I can just disengage and let it carry me somewhere. Often the same piece or group of pieces will take me somewhere different each time I play it.

I've had Please Tomorrow for a few weeks now and the more I listen to it the more I like it. Great music while driving in the car or in front of the computer. There's a wistful, lonesome sound to that piano and the hopeful guitar will take you places if you let it. 8)
I have found with a lot of Viggo's art you gotta delve and usually worth the time. An earlier post said something about music being true to itself. I like that.

I\'d like to recommend the Icelandic female sing & songwriter Bjork if you like experimental music. It is fun and the lyrics are really worth listening to.

as for the idea that people are buying things only because VM created it - those people are fools and i have a bridge he built if someone wants to bid on it. what some folks appear not to know is that most of his CDs were recorded long before Aragorn hit the screen. long before the sophmoric craze for all things Viggo began, he was part of the music and spoken word scene in LA. i know this not from some fan-zine but because a friend of ours is a part of that same scene. it\'s not PR or what have you - it\'s just the man, his son and some friends recording what they enjoy.
if you don\'t like it, cool - buy more Bjork or what have you - but to say it\'s not music is to fall into the same closed mindset of those who once declared that the works of Picasso and Pollack were not art. it doesn\'t have to be pretty or have catchy lyrics to be music.

Those words indicate the same as the tailors in HC Andersen's story "The emperor's new suit". I am sorry that I was a bit rough in my first statement, asking if you're deaf. Of course you're not but I was so frustrated because the cd was not what I had in mind. After downloading and listening to Moonset and looking at the titles for the rest of the tracks, I was expecting music being floating, dreamy, drowsy, almost like lullabies. A cd to fall a sleep while listening to. To put on after a hard days work, drifting away in the mind and thinking of all the beauty there is in life.
I now understand why the cd is called Please Tomorrow; I didn't realize it actually was PLEASE tomorrow. However SNGWTHME gave me something to think about. I reminded myself of all the other albums in my collection, bought because of the one particular "song". And feeling betrayed because the rest of the tracks didn't sound as expected.
I apologize if I offended anyone, Mr Mortensen in particular, though I doubt he'll never find out... ;)
It is now past midnight so I'll say goodnight, put on Moonset and Sunrise to let them "play" me to sleep. Because I will indeed enjoy those tracks a lot.

The later quote, re: the reply to Pax, was an observation of what they had offered as critique about PT, in that of all the tracks on the CD there were only 2 tracks "worth listening to".

And also reflective of my personal opinion of a prior album, like TOP, in that this album at least has two songs on board that redeem the price of the CD, per Pax\'s opinion. I like PT. I stand by my earlier critique of this album. VM is known for experimental compelations, as his previous (pre Aragorn craze), albums prove. TOP being one example prior to PT and PT standing as an example, imho, of one of the better of his experimental exercises. I also admire and respect Pax for daring to post a boldly honest opinion of the album they purchased.
Yes, artists create music for music\'s sake and as an expression of their own creative spirit.
However, when one records and markets that work to the general public, they release that personal and subjective creation into the realm of the objective critique inherent in the consumer public.
Therefore, that buyer public is entitled, even obligated, to a personal opinion of that which has evolved from a musicians personal project unto a commercial retail product.
It doesn\'t speak ill of VM to not like most of the tracks on PT. It does not detract from VM\'s talent as a musician to dislike "The Other Parade". It\'s a personal observation of the medium, music, that speaks and sounds unique to all that care to listen.
That\'s the nature of music. That\'s why some people hate Opera (I love Opera), and some have an entire library of albums. It\'s why some people listen to music and others hear the message in the music. Music is the unique Universal language .

as for the other remark about casting dirt - there was no dirt cast - simply stated, if one closes one\'s mind tightly in defining anything, most especially in the arts, one is short changing oneself. at times it is even we very creative types who narrow definitions to something within the boundaries we are familiar with. Picasso and Pollack were reviled by some of his contemporaries at the time... changing tides can be painful and experimentation is the mother of change.

An open mind must mean that you accept others opinion, even if it doesn't agree with yours.

i really don\'t like certain artists and musicians, but i don\'t proclaim that they don\'t produce art and music - i simply find their work appalling to my senses. even those horrible pie-eyed child paintings are art - they just make me gag. certain piano concertos sound like someone trapped a cat inside the piano, but they are music (and i confess, i like a few and loath a few).
