Post by: franko on March 16, 2004, 12:12:18 AM
What an awesome song. I had to download it as I am mostly only familuar with the "Axiology" album. But man, what a great song, Travis, you Thanatopsis cats are some funky mofo\'s.

I love this site, and I love Thanatopsis.
Keep it up!

Thanks Franko,

Poor Thanatopsis "one" is the neglected stepchild of the family. It gets overlooked by Buckethead fans for some reason, but he just rips all the way through it. I spent a ton of time crafting that record truly a labor of love. Don\'t get me wrong "Axiology" has more soul but the first Thanatopsis has an attitude that I would like to explore an another record.

Hey Travis........ I actually like the first Thanatopsis better!!!  Although, I have listened to it more times.  I think it has some amazing songs, and like you said.... Bucket just rips through the entire thing like a maniac, yet somehow still perfectly fitting the mood of each song.  I guess it\'s the same with all of your guys\' work.

Thanks!!!

Jim

hi there- I like them both and the production is so incredibly clear and clean, Travis!

For me Thanatopsis 1 is a ride.  The sounds are so fast mostly.  Like Twinge.  There is little space for me to do but scream.  Which can be very fun but a little draining.  Although Final Reparation is more open and I think the violins are funny.  Actually, for me Thanatopsis 1 is a whole lot of funhouse funny.  Except Mortheaol, that is some serious invocation of the Jimi, I thought.

Axiology, now that I can listen over and over.  Much more space in it for me.  I mean I can fit myself into it better, it is very welcoming that way.  Lots of space for me to insert my own play and song.  I can play along.  And Travis said it has more soul.  I know what you mean, it seems more vulnerable, more sad, than Thanatopsis 1.   Thanatopsis 1 is more like skipping a rock on a pond.   A very beautiful pond.
