Title: Let\'s hear "Reunion"
Post by: BelieveIntheBucket on October 31, 2011, 12:05:24 AM
Hi,

I\'d really like to hear some of the new Viggo Mortensen/Buckethead collab. "Reunion" before buying it.

Can someone post some samples or a track or two somewhere for streaming?  I haven\'t been able to find it anywhere.

Also, for those who have it, what do you think of it?

That makes two of us. However, I\'d prefer if no one posts complete songs on here. I wonder if Travis can set up a sample page for it? That would prolly be best.

I have it. It\'s nice. kinda mellow. Not a shred album. lots of piano with buck in the backgraound. It is pleasant. Nothing to crazy or over the top. Sounds improved.

Why the need to hear it before buying it?  Just take the plunge.  No one seems to buy sound unheard anymore...

Thats like telling a guy to buy a.cheeseburger that might have pickles, and the guy might not like pickles.

I agree with the samples,  not  everyone is the same.

Would you buy a house without looking at it?

Comparing a house to an album is pretty steep.

It\'s a great album, very mellow, ideal "lounge" material. Just buy it! You won\'t be let down if you expect what these fine people have told you. :)

This is a Perceval Press record so it\'s not mine to post. I\'ll see what I can do.
Till then, I\'d say it\'s a bit like the duo on Please Tomorrow, just piano and guitar. It\'s just $7, worst thing is you might have to skip lunch at McDonalds.

Travis is not only gifted musically. He also seems to be quite the comedian too  :P

Ok, ok. I\'ll buy it by Friday! I could use some soothing and chill music right about now anyway..................................

If it was $10, yes I would!
 ;D

I\'ve bought nearly 1000 cds unheard and I\'ve only been burned 6-10 times...

If people didn\'t buy unheard, there definitely wouldn\'t be a Buckethead as such...

hahaha, for me i like to know what risks im taking and what i wont risk. Same happens with music. I dont blindly buy music because it has an artists name on it, its because i like the music thats in the album.

A beter example i think would have been "Would you buy Lulu just knowing its a Metallica/Lou Reed collab?"
 ;D ;D

^^ If I hadnt heard "The View" and a few other samples, I probably would have bought "Lulu" and completely regret it.

I took the plunge on two expensive Japanese imports back in 93 or 94. They were Giant Robot and Bucketheadland.

Sometimes you just have to go for it.

Also:

"Different Times" is spot on.

I it wern\'t for us old farts taking a risk on something we hadn\'t heard, you would not be able to hear snippits on youtube or other online sources. You might not even know who to steal music from online.

 ;) ;) ;)

very true. Or an artist can get a career online that he couldnt get by waiting for old farts to take a risk
 ;D ;D

Lets just say that everyone has their own way. Equally valid ;)

It\'s not about old farts. It\'s about new ones. Farting is good. Like this morning: I didn\'t feel good so out came a new thunderous fart; I scared the crap outta my dog and she hauled ass. Then I felt great :D

Point is everybody is cheap these days. Spend your money! And stop farting around!

I dunno if this makes any sense but I\'m gonna hit the "post" button anyway.

The reunion album is very nice! Very pleasant, therapeutic and easy on the ear. Perfect for after a hard day of work while unwinding or any other relaxing setting. I strongly encourage anyone who has not bought it to buy it right away!

I\'ve been listening to reunion for almost 2 weeks now daily and I still really enjoy it. There is a song or two that I really don\'t get though.....

Now I know this is advertised as a improv album and the songs do noticeably  lack structure. Still nice and peaceful never the less. I\'d like to hear a composed album with the same sort of theme by bucket and viggo. Reunion is --in my eyes-- a rough draft to a possible great album. It really could be so much better in terms of composure. I know they can do it :)

Overall this album gets a 6 outta 10 rating from me. And I will continue to enjoy it.
