Title: Buckethead: Enter The Chicken
Post by: Steve McKagan on September 09, 2005, 01:28:51 AM
Travis, will you have this available at your webstore?
Do you have any info on it? Or is it an "outside-TDRS"-project?
I guess many Buckethead-fans have the same questions.

it\'s on serjical records, serj\'s record company the guy from system of a down.  it seems like it was all put together at his studio but i bet travis recorded a few of the instrumental tracks.  a better question is, how will signing with serjical records affect future releases?  but i\'m sure the answer is, no effect, only more releases.  as BH strives for musical freedom and serj is also a musician not a corporate executive.

Yes this is an outside deal. I did  a couple of tracks but thats it. I don\'t expect to have this available here but it won\'t really be necessary because it should get wide distribution. The tree is getting shaken big time right now and I expect the ground to be littered soon, there may be a little shuffling around but nothing will get lost I\'m sure.

Not much, but anyway.
A good resolution pic of the frontcover.

Don\'t know about you guys, but as allways I\'m very excited about the upcomming album.
I bet it\'s just as good as I think it is.
So we wait a while and October 25th, we enter the chicken.  ;D

I know it\'s kind of off topic, but I didn\'t really want to start a new thread.

Hey Travis, how is the new Thanatopsis album coming?  I\'m really looking forward to it.

By the way, I just got my Shin Terai album from this site.  Great album!

The Thanatopsis record gets worked on every chance I get. It\'s a project that has to wait for time when other things aren\'t already taking it. I can\'t predict a release date but I would like to see it done by late Nov or early Dec .

worked for me but you could try closing up what looks like a gap between "r" and ".zip" - and you need to accept pop-ups and accept the terms on the zip etc - it puts you through some paces before you get to the image.

the V is photoshopped over his Les Paul.  Look at it real closely, you\'ll notice that his straplock isn\'t connecting to the guitar.  Also, i don\'t think he wore the black getup with the v.

It\'s pretty phenomenal.  It\'s essentially Buckethead taking a stab at organized "Top 40"-like music.

and it\'s really... really good.  Really.

even the song i thought i wouldn\'t really like (Three Fingers)  I think is phenomenal.  It\'s all really good.

this and thanatopsis III may in fact make my life complete.

I really enjoyed most of this album minus the Serj parts and so on..

Don\'t Flame me, but I can not get into his vocals.. Sorry..

The CD has been in my car\'s player for 5 Days straight now..

I have a question about the song Colma.  Is this song influenced by Poe at all?  My friend is really into Poe, and she thinks that the song Colma is riping off Poe\'s singing style..  I doubt it.. I think it might just be the same genre.

Thanks,
Jeff

I didn\'t dig Serj\'s vocals that much, but then I heard "waiting here" and was quite impressed.  He\'s got some neat pipes, he\' just usually yelling.

I\'m really struggling with Enter The Chicken, it just doesn\'t do it for me at all. Nottingham Lace is awesome of course, and I\'ve loved Dungeon Stilt (Botnus) for yonks but I can\'t get into the vocals on this version. They just seem bog standard. I always end up turning it off and listening to a live instrumental version.

I think the reason I have a problem with the album as a whole is that the vocals end up being the focal point, I don\'t know if it\'s because they\'re too high in the mix or the fact that the singing is practically non-stop, but I just feel like the music doesn\'t have any room to breathe - it\'s totally smothered.

The only new track I really like is The Hand - Bob\'s vocals are nuts and fit so nicely with Bucket\'s style. They just sound different. They\'re also lower in the mix coincidentally.

Enter The Chicken is the first album Bucket\'s done that I\'ve been disappointed in. Give me Cuckoo Clocks, Island of Lost Minds, Axiology or Population Override over it any day of the week.

I also got Kaleidascalp yesterday and it hasn\'t left my player. Outstanding stuff.
