Title: Spinal Clock Limited update
Post by: Travis on August 26, 2010, 01:43:54 PM
Looks like we wildly underestimated the demand for the LE edition of Spinal Clock. I have been getting emails asking how long will it be offered. As you know we had planned only 300 of these as LE\'s. However, Because the demand is so high we want to a least give most who might want one a fair shot at getting one and have decided to raise the final number of editions to 500. Normally we don\'t announce the editions number for this very reason. There is a pile on to get it and they are gone in no time. So the new number is 500 and that will be all. They are called limited editions for a reason.

There have also, as usual, been a bunch of emails asking questions about this offering. As with Best Regards, I\'ll start a FAQ thread for Spinal Clock soon.

Thanks Travis. Just a question about payment though, I\'ve already paid for an LE and had a receipt, what would happen then if it turns out I was too late and missed out on the chance to get it? Would I be refunded then?

So does that mean that the original 300 has already sold out? :o

I think I\'m in with a great chance of #1. 8)
Thanks for telling us this.

Also, when you do the FAQ can you please say what kind of case it\'s in? I was imagining a digipack like Electric Tears/Unison but the words \'CD jacket\' make me think otherwise.
Edit:
Also is this a CDR or a normal CD?
Quotea regular CD in a CD jacket for $10.00

Silly me.

You probably wouldn\'t be able to order if there were none left.

And now it\'s 500. It\'s no problem. I can\'t say I agree with you, Best_Regards.

As a Buckethead fan, would you not want every single one of us to have a fair slice of the pie? Buckethead is in recovery at the minute and working hard at getting better in time to record and tour again. Since his injury he has released a 5 CD box-set and now this release, both limited editions and the way I see this, these are both gifts to us, the fans, for being as supportive as we have. Whether it\'s been 5 days or 5 years, or longer, whatever, you\'re his fan, you\'re a binge buddy. Demand is higher than anticipated, it\'s no big deal. 500 is still a limited number for a worldwide distribution for a popular musician who has worked with some of the most prolific men and women in the industry. He has broken his back (almost literally) trying to give us something special, I don\'t think calling it fraudulent is very grateful if I\'m honest.

Be thankful we got anything at all. This feels special and intimate, and this is as close a connection from the artist to a fan I have ever seen.

Good to see I\'m not alone on that. Surely we can\'t be the only ones who think that. We\'re a family, we should be trying to get others involved, not exclude them. Anyone who\'s put the time and money into buying it deserves a copy, of course they do.

what banjo was buckethead using on this album travis?  is it the one on the artwork for it, i didn\'t even think that 8 string banjos were even made

QuoteI find that unfair  >:(
i ordered a limited edition CD with 300 copies AND ONLY 300 COPIES!!!
i feel ripped off
this is counted as fraud y\'know
>:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

There are around 7 billion (http://www.ibiblio.org/lunarbin/worldpop) people in the world.
You are getting one of a limited run of only 500 CDs.
Feel better now?
 ;)

I\'d only start to feel ripped off if there were more than 1000 made, but, like said above, it\'s called a Limited Edition for a reason - It\'s limited.

And I didn\'t think banjos with spine necks were even made! JK. It\'s a mandolin headstock. If you look closely, there are only 6 strings, like on a guitar.

Prepare for the beating of a dead horse.

As far as the bumping of the limited number goes...

You should all be happy the number needs to be bumped. That means Buckethead is gaining popularity. I know some "fans" think it\'d be better for Buckethead to remain underground so that his music doesn\'t become popular or commercialized, but I just feel happy that he\'s gaining more attention to the extent that he\'s making more sales. After all, I\'d like to see someone with little recognition and monstrous talent gain more success.

As for picking out the arbitrary number of 1000 for the max number of limited copies...

Alex, you sound like Best_Regards. If the limited edition needs to be bumped to any number that\'s still relatively small compared to total sales, I\'d say that\'s fine. Like I said above, I\'m just happy it needs to be bumped at all.

(end rant/dead horse has been beaten)

From the samples this album sounds like something that people would play on Halloween when Trick-Or-Treaters come wandering around. Kinda slightly spooky but not creepy.

P.S. I think it would be better to get a different sample of Gelatin Nerve hahaha I cant stop laughing from listening to this one imagining a 4 minute song of what the sample is like.

If changing the number of LE\'s bothered me, I would ask for my money back before claiming fraud.  It doesn\'t bother me in the least, though.

I\'m sorry some feel short changed about the change in the number. I\'ll be happy to cancel your order and refund your money. Since nothing has been delivered yet, no harm no foul. Just let me know.

99 percent of the orders so far are for the LE. Didn\'t see that coming and don\'t want to disappoint a lot of very loyal and longtime fans. 500 is still the lowest or one of the lowest LE\'s yet

I\'ll open another thread to cover some of these questions but one I can answer is, I confess, I used photoshop on the cover. There I said it.

Lol, I doubt anyone minds about the cover being photoshopped, it\'s still awesome and surely every one agrees!

I\'m surprised! Not a P-Sticks or Bryan Theiss cover?! Looks like Travis has skill in multiple arts. Seriously one of my favorite covers.
