Awesome news. I will for sure buy one of these.. for stuff like this price doesnt matter to me ..let the cash fly!
Plus I\'ve always wanted a Les Paul guitar. I just looked at a 2000 Studio gothic(all black) model and passed on it, so this would be perfect timing if it comes out soon:)
My guitar collection:
Ibanez Iceman..awesome!
Schecter Hellraiser
Jackson dinky strat. style
Schecter Jeff loomis model 7 string
*the Buckethead Les Paul would be the final guitar I will need :)
What ever happened to bucket\'s spirit of it\'s about the music and not the endorsements?
A signature model from Gibson is a huge honor. He may make some money on it, too. Or get a better deal on equipment. He had a brief deal with Jackson several years ago. Appeared in some ads, etc...I wasn\'t offended at all. Your mileage may vary.
So can anyone confirm this? I\'ve looked online and called several local guitar stores and found out zero about the Buckethead Les paul...maybe Travis knows something?........ :)

If you click the link in the original post its to Gibson announcement... I\'d call that confirmed.
Wow that is way coolio. ;D Good for Buckethead and the guitar could be awesome, I wonder if they will have it with 24 frets and if they choose to do the one with the white headstock (my personal favorite) that would be sweet, what would be REALLY cool is if they made the guitar body size to Bucketheads Specs.
Hopefully they make an Epiphone custom one for 500-800 dollars

Dood, why don\'t you just go and sell yer whole BH collection if ya feel that way. Unless of course you downloaded it. If that is the case, then go buy the stuff.
The boy has to make some money some way.
there\'s no way I\'m selling my bucket collection and no I haven\'t downloaded it, they are all "hard" legit copies.
I\'m just saying someone who toured with GNR can\'t honestly have cash problems. Someone like bucket has to be in it for the music not the dough.

^that\'s a huge assumption and besides, wealth is relative.

^I agree. But I don\'t see this signature guitar as a way Big B will make money, it is an Honor bestowed upon him by a small faction of the music industry. It\'s apparent to me from the release of his last 2 albums that he isn\'t in it for the money. FF and NiaSS (imo) were made for the fans and for Big B himself.
If Big B wanted he could make albums that sounded like Jordon and Nottingham Lace and have more mass appeal. He could make tons of merchandise and be like alot of musicians who put their image before thier music. He could sell buckets and masks at shows and change his album covers so Walmart will sell his cds.
^that is what someone who is in it for the money does.
I\'m stoked for this new sig guitar, I hope I can get one.

Well said!
This just in from Gibson HQ!
QuoteThanks for calling Gibson Customer Service. Gibson USA says that the Buckethead is due out in November. The MSRP has not been set yet. The body is 10% larger than a regular Les Paul. It is based on a LP Custom with multi ply binding on the top and binding on the back as well. They are white with ebony fret boards and the scale is 27 ½ inches long. It has open coiled pickups with white pickup bobbins and speed knobs. The guitar also employs the use of 2 "Atari" type buttons that act as a kill switch type of thing. One is located where the rhythm pickup volume knob is usually located and the other is located where the toggle usually sits. Thanks.
Hey! That\'s great news! Thanks! :o
Pictures are finally available:

Its about time, I have been looking everyday for some news on it, I will need to go to my local music store when it comes out to see it and play with it.
Friday the 13th coincidence? I think not. Bummer that it has chrome hardware instead of the white hardware oh well still way excited
THANKS!!!! :o

You beat me to it! Thanks! :D
Hmm this guitar seems like a really really cool guitar but I wonder how close to bucketheads it usually is. the things that I am wondering about are the pickups, I know people have debated that he uses DiMarzios which I know he uses XN2\'s on his KFC V but I wonder if he really uses Gibsons on his LP. The other thing that I am wondering about is that the Gibson one turns the tone and volume(or just 1) into a push pull pot, I never knew Buckethead had that.

I am guessing it is as close as he and Gibson could come to for a production model. Buckethead always seems to be tweaking this guitars and his sound. I am looking forward to checking one out. It would be a stretch for me to buy one at this point but....

It looks like an EXACT replica of his 2009 touring guitar. Also, he\'s used the 496r/500t pickup combo before on his 22 fret white Les Paul.

Yeah! It\'s awesome looking. I\'d definitely want to play one first. The 27 inch scale length might be a little weird for me. And the price is reasonable but it still might be out of my range. I definitely want to play one!!!
I forsee two problems here:
1.It\'s too damn mind bendingly awesome to not own
2.I can\'t afford it.
I think it\'s time I took up a job at a local fast food establishment to pay for this baby, I wanna get one before it\'s gone.
Ordered. Cant wait to play it, now if i can only get Bucket to sign it for me :)
Anyone wanna bet that a new cd will acompany the release date of the guitar?
I\'m guessing it will be a really good album too...since he really hasnt released anything new for awhile..F/F and Needle are not new imo...

I just wrote a blog called "transcending a gimmick" which speaks a little of how marketable he could actually be at www.slunks.ning.com - leave some comments on it if you like.
The boy has working hard for a long time, doing it his way and not selling out (breifly GNR perhaps) he deserves all he can get.

I\'ve been doing a little homework. The street price seems to be around 2600 USD and I found a place that will be right around $2k!! I wish I didn\'t need surgery!!!!

I never said I wouldn\'t buy a signature buckethead axe, I just thought he wasn\'t the type given that he had those custom jacksons which were never put into production.
He doesn\'t seem like the person to do such a thing, but I\'m not going to stop listening to his tracks because of this. In fact quite the opposite.

I forgot to mention that although on the surface it may seem to be purely a gimmick you need to look further into the Wikipedia article on bucket. It clearly states that he does it to avoid the hollywood drama that surrounds nearly every popular and non-popular artist. Can you imagine what TMZ would do to poor bucket? It\'s bad enough Joan Rivers took a pot shot a him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzfuB_mDQvE&feature=related
I just love how these idiotic Hollywood fuckers stick their nose in everyone\'s business, evaluating Buckethead\'s "fashion" like he gives a damn.
Then again hollywood is known for this kind of thing so I wonder why I\'m getting bent out of shape about it. For example, Madonna diving right into Kabbalah her first year of "practicing" Judaism when it takes Rabbi\'s in training at least a decade if not two to even begin to study Kabbalah.
If only I had courage and a rifle...

I don\'t know...I think Buckethead and Bootsy can take that Joan Rivers-type criticism in stride. Those fashion police critiques are cheesy on purpose. They make off the cuff remarks and the line about her being stopped by security was kind of funny.
Really, just being on their radar at the Grammys on the red carpet is kind of a goof. Do you really expect to impress them with a vintage KFC bucket and a head to toe leopard print ensemble!?
I, like you I\'m sure, really appreciate Buckethead\'s ability to remain under the radar and still maintain a level of artistic control that others with his notoriety rarely accomplish. He could obviously do more press etc... and get more publicity but that takes time away from the music making, and the sharks that the publicity attracts don\'t always report about the music anyway.
As far as Madonna goes, she has a couple good tunes, but I wouldn\'t recommend her or just about any other entertainer\'s ideas about theology, biology, geology, sociology...etc. They may be using her just as much as she is using them. But that is just my natural skepticism showing through,,,
Buckethead on the other hand kicks ass and his signature Les Paul looks like a winner imho. Maybe he should accessorize with it on the red carpet in the future!!!!
Yesterday I sent bucket a letter and asked for an autograph of the included funeral sticker, or maybe some photographs. I had read on some forum during the GNR days, that he simply said he was an awesome guitarist, and could wait for the Chinese Democracy album.
Only an artist like Buckethead would be so kind to do that for a fan, any other artist would be egotistical and have their head shoved up their ass like Ringo Starr.
I think the reason he actually would send someone an autograph is because as a child/teenager he looked up to artists and wished they would do the same. However since they wouldn\'t I think he would try and give his fans the experience he always wanted.
Then again I\'ve heard some people never get replies, but those people usually don\'t ask for autographs, they just want a hello back or something. I can understand him not replying to those kinds of letters, since there might be a fan out there with an agenda to expose him or something.
If I ever do get a bucket axe, I\'ll be sure to find some way to have it signed.

I was kind of hoping the Buckethead Signature Les Paul would come with a signature! Maybe on the back of the headstock or a certificate of authenticity of some sort...especially since this is the first run. I wonder how limited this edition will be.
Anyway, good luck with your autograph request. I would guess that it is harder to fulfill all the requests these days due to volume of interest and a hectic schedule but be patient and you never know....
I was just thinking that he would start to get an influx of letters, maybe beggars asking for a free signature Les Paul..

I sincerely hope you\'re right. If I\'m lucky I would hope to get it before the year is up and I figured now would be the best time since he\'s not currently on tour.
I wanted to say I do believe I\'ve found the arcade button and color that they use in the signature model.

No other switch made could fit since it would be too long and wouldn\'t fit in a control cavity.
I\'m planning on getting one to put in my strat.

Your chances are probably better if you include a self addresses stamped envelope (SASE) with your request. And to be sure that the return postage is adequate.
Aww crap..I sent it like 2 weeks ago *facepalm*
I just got the call from Guitar Center they said i can pick up my Buckethead Gibby and custom case early next week! ;D
I paid $2500.00 ...anyone else get one? if so how much did you pay?
This will help me out a lot ,since i have only put down half for a deposit and if someone got it cheaper i might be able to barter a little ....
Thanks for any info.

Excellent. They advertise in the back of most major guitar magazines. Check them out. Often times their discounts are better that the major chain stores. Ask for Lance.
FYI: the latest word that I have heard is that a few have already shipped, but most should be available mid to late Jan. So there is still time to save some scratch or perhaps corral some Christmas cash!
I PLAYED ONE!!!!
I LOVE this guitar! The scale length was a little weird at first, but since I play bass also it wasn\'t that big of a stretch. It was actually very comfortable the more I played with it!! Considering the size it wasn\'t very heavy at all.
The kill switches could be very addictive! Many possibilities...
The finish and binding was gorgeous, I like the inlay on the headstock. The frets and the action on the strings were very good ++ right out of the box.
The pickups were highly responsive and cleaned up well on 2-4. This guitar is a shredder\'s dream. Very meaty tones and harmonics ring out. The coil tap switch for the neck pick up is a great touch. This axe is designed to scream or sigh. A real pleasure to pick up and bliss out.
I hope to be able to own one soon. I have some hefty out of pocket expenses that I need to attend to. But this is not simply just another guitar. Or another Les Paul. This is a signature model that is more than another sunburst finish with a rocker\'s name on it. There may be imitations in the future but this is an original unlike any other Les Paul model, just like Buckethead.
Thanks to Lance at EM Shorts (800-835-3006) for the best deal and service They have some more on the way.

Sick stumpdangler!!!!! :D ;D
did you just play one or did you actually buy one? :o
I just played one for a few minutes. Just enough to whet my appetite. I was very impressed, I knew I wanted one just because I am a fan, but now I think I would play the crud out of it! I forgot to mention the 24 frets, too. Great for the two handed tapping, which I didn\'t even think of doing. The neck felt so good, thicker...remember the Jeff Beck strats from the 90s? Similar to that except smoother and the frets were nicer. I played one that was just out of the box and they hadn\'t set it up yet. The Kill switches are waaaaaay too much fun. ;D
I will hopefully bring one home in the near future.
check it! Gizzorge got his today! ;D 8)

Rock on man! :D
Nice! Congrats! I didn\'t even think of playing any Buckethead music when I tried one out. How weird is that? For some reason, maybe because of the unusual size and/or larger shape, it made me attempt or explore things that I wouldn\'t normally try on more standard sized instrument. Just a few minutes with it, though. Plus, it just felt great.
oh mama, sweet vid! there buddy, lol, playing a Buckethead sigy Lester Paul... or work mmm tough one.
